Having lost their Idiot in Chief, GOP turns to Joe the Plumber for advice.

The Republicans are bringing in the big guns to help them plan out the way forward. What Democrat can hope to win the day against the brilliance of Joe:

Fresh off his stint as a war correspondent in Gaza, Joe the Plumber is now doing political strategy with Republicans.

When GOP congressional aides gather Tuesday morning for a meeting of the Conservative Working Group, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher – more commonly known as Joe the Plumber — will be their featured guest. This group is an organization of conservative Capitol Hill staffers who meet regularly to chart GOP strategy for the week.

Wurzelbacher, who became a household name during the presidential election, will be focusing his talk on the proposed stimulus package. He’s apparently not a fan of the economic rescue package, according to members of the group.

Of course he’s not. He tends not to be a fan of anything the Democrats come up with. He’s a blind party loyalist of the sort the GOP just can’t get enough off. He doesn’t waste time considering the merits, he just looks to see whether or not it’s a Republican proposal. If it is then it’s the greatest thing ever in the history of mankind and if it isn’t then it’s a sure sign of the pending apocalypse. How could they not love a guy who has swallowed the Kool-Aid so thoroughly?

“Joe the Plumber” has no sense of irony.

So “Joe the Plumber” has managed to milk his 15 minutes of fame into a new career as a “journalist” for the conservative website Pajamas TV. One of his first assignments has been to cover the recent hostilities between Israel and Hamas. When asked about what he’s learned since taking on his new role he proceeded to say the following without a hint of irony:

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t think journalists should be anywhere allowed war. I mean, you guys report where our troops are at. You report what’s happening day to day. You make a big deal out of it. I think it’s asinine. You know, I liked back in World War I and World War II when you’d go to the theater and you’d see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for’em. Now everyone’s got an opinion and wants to downer–and down soldiers. You know, American soldiers or Israeli soldiers.

I think media should be abolished from, uh, you know, reporting. You know, war is hell. And if you’re gonna sit there and say, “Well look at this atrocity,” well you don’t know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it.

Wow. Just wow. The eloquence and intelligence of this man is simply overwhelming. I can see why he’s so popular with the Republicans. He really speaks their language. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s Joe himself:

You gotta admire a journalist who’s so prepared with thousands of questions that he can’t think of one right off top of his head to ask. You also gotta admire a journalist who feels journalists shouldn’t be allowed to do their jobs and cover wars. Clearly Joe feels the People don’t have a right to know! Sit the fuck down and just let the people who are the deciderers make the dicederisions for you like you elected them to do!

FOX News, amazingly, illustrates how uninformed “Joe the Plumber” really is.

As a rule I tend to avoid FOX News on cable because it gets my blood pressure up every time I watch it. Which is ironic because I prefer the morning newscast of the local FOX affiliate. The fact that the local station used to be a CBS affiliate prior to being bought out by FOX probably has a lot to do with that. Still the cable news channel drives me nuts with it’s clear conservative bias.

Which is why the following video clip of FOX News anchor Shep Smith challenging “Joe the Plumber” to explain why he agreed with the statement that “a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel” is so damned amazing. Check it:

“Joe” became the darling of the McCain campaign during the last debate and immediately afterward, but has been slowly losing his luster the more he talks to reporters and reveals what an uninformed idiot he really is. Even so I’m still stunned to see a FOX anchor challenge him to back up his opinion with any kind of reasoning and the last five seconds of the clip alone will make you wonder if Smith has been replaced by a liberal-leaning pod person. For his part “Joe” tries desperately to get out of having to provide any kind of reasoning for his opinion by saying that folks shouldn’t listen to his opinion and should go out and find out reasons on their own. All his dancing doesn’t hide the fact that he’s clueless even from the likes of FOX News.
