Norm Coleman declares that God wants him in the Senate.

The election between Al Franken and Norm Coleman for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate seat still hasn’t been resolved as Norm has decided to tie the whole thing up in court for as long as possible. The courts haven’t reached a decision yet, but that hasn’t stopped Coleman from going around telling folks what what outcome God wants:

When asked about the recount and how it is affecting him personally, Coleman said he starts every day with a prayer and that he knows “God wants me to serve.”

I’m reminded often when I hear statements like the above of a fitting quote from Susan B. Anthony:

“I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.”

That certainly seems to be the case here. What Coleman doesn’t seem to understand is that God wants him to serve pancakes at the local IHOP.
