The Box is infallible. Never question the Box.

This has been floating around for awhile, but I thought I’d share it anyway. The following cartoon illustrates near-perfectly the difficulty in using the scientific method to discover the truth with a True Believer™:

Oh, the number of times I’ve had this conversation with someone. It never ceases to amaze me how they’ll accept, without question, something their holy book says and will insist that until science has every piece of the puzzle figured out that the book is right and science in wrong. The Theory of Evolution being the most obvious example.

Doesn’t matter how much the evidence backs up science, if it doesn’t answer every little question then it’s wrong.

  1. What an excellent example of your statement. It is a shame that everyone’s mind is not open or smart enough to at least consider what this is as a possibility.

  2. But, Winnie-the-Pooh is a Taoist. Haven’t you read “The Tao of Pooh”, by Benjamin Hoff? And everyone KNOWS you can’t trust a Taoist, so it MUST be a duck. You have been deluded!

    😉 😆

    Peace.

  3. Did you notice that at NO point in this bit of humor did red-suspender rabbit ever claim that there wasn’t a duck puzzle out there? He only said that the puzzle in front of him clearly wasn’t a duck.

And as a side note, this is why the “War on Ducks” is so totally fabricated. Nobody is keeping white-dress rabbit from thinking there is a duck puzzle out there somewhere. Red suspender duck might even believe that. But White-Dress rabbit calls fowl, because someone dares to suggest that Tigger isn’t the same as a duck.

Side side note. If Tigger is the same as a duck, then he’s a witch.
