Parents kill 1-year-old daughter with a hammer to rid her of demons.

There are some projects you shouldn’t try to do yourself. Say things like exorcising demons from your child:

They were arrested Tuesday after Rusk County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call found 13-month-old Amora Bain Carson beaten. Investigators think the couple used a hammer to “beat the demons out” of Amora, Carson’s daughter.

Lt. Reynold Humber said that the couple told detectives various stories on how the child was injured, including that the toddler was in an auto accident and attacked by the family’s dogs. They even said that the child beat herself in the head with a hammer.

“They had multiple stories they went through before they told us they had beaten the child to death,” he told The Tyler Morning Telegraph for its Wednesday editions.

Humber said the couple eventually told deputies the child was possessed and they were trying to rid her of demons.

An arrest affidavit says that after the child was dead, the couple “drove to Henderson to pawn some items to pay for an exorcism.”

It shows the extent of their delusions that they thought that hiring someone to do a “proper” exorcism might in some way help after the child was already dead.

  1. My guess is she was a typical toddler with tantrums and of course every child should always be good and happy unless of course the parents are bad parents or they are possessed.

Makes me sick that someone would do that to a child…especially a small child that can’t even run away.

  2. No matter how many times I see stories like this, I never get used to them. It’s horrific.
I have to say though, these people seemed to be thinking of excuses more than actually believing the exorcism idea.
More than anything, this makes me wonder why I have to have a license to drive a car, or even to go fishing, but any two mouth breathing morons can have a child. And then when they get bored with her, beat her to death with a hammer.
I hope their punishment is severe and lifelong. Better yet I hope it ends their miserable lives soon.
I saw this pop up on Global Atheist, and simply had to comment.

It just might, though perhaps not soon enough. The parents were just arraigned on capital murder charges, and it is Texas, after all.

Of all the screwed-up news stories I read today, that one bothers me the most. I just don’t get some people.

  4. What’s everyone complaining about?  The kid doesn’t have any demons any more, does she?

  5. And the Darwin Awards are not presented to infant murderers. I do hope their genes are removed from the pool, however.  sick

  6. Well, if they get the death penalty, then I think they should go to the top of the Darwin Awards list.

Especially since they corrected the mistake they made with breeding.

  7. I’m with Neece on this one.  They told several stories before finally settling on the “beat the demons” out of her story, even the pawning of items for an “exorcism” appears to have been an after thought.

I’m figuring they are hoping the religious angle will give them a chance of getting out of life in prison or a death sentence.

Sorry, but there’s far too little evidence to start declaring that “Christians shouldn’t have children.”

Oh really? I’d think the past 2000 years would disprove that last comment.  tongue rolleye
