The real reason Republicans so feared a Democrat President

How much do you want to bet that the Republicans are thankful they never made good on their threats to “nuke” the filibuster back when they were in power?

  1. They should be afraid.
There is no rational reason to think that Obama will be any less inclined to make use of those unconstitutional powers than his predecessor.

  2. Fear not Les, in their minds Obama has already been impeached… its just a matter of waiting for their party to regain the majority in congress. If Obama tried anything like what Bush has done in the last eight years, the Republicans and the public would turn on him in an instant. I really doubt that Obama will get away with the things that Bush got away with; to the contrary, he won’t be able to get away with anything without at least some scrutiny. That is how it seems to me, anyway.

Which is good, in a sense, no president should have that power, but the point is that its not good in that Bush should have never gotten away with these things in the first place.

  3. What the hell, I say we make the Republicans wear yellow R’s on their clothing and send them all to work camps in Nebraska building bombs for our invasion of Canada to steal the secrets of socialized medicine.

I am apalled that you didn’t include any persecution of Christians in there, MM. Surely there is some presidential power that can be used for that.

  5. Until the British object to it publicly I’m hoping to keep the solution to the “Christian problem” under wraps.
