I am now perpard to say that FOX News isn’t ALL bad.

There’s at least one anchor on the FOX News Channel that I can respect and that’s Shep Smith. In addition to challenging Joe the Plumber on the whole “a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel” nonsense, he went on Bill “Douchebag” O’Reilly’s show and explained to him the job of a real journalist as opposed to Sean Hannity or even Billo himself:

I thought the playful jab at O’Reilly at the end was pretty funny and probably truer in intent than Billo realizes. At any rate I’m heartened to see that at least one person reporting the news on FOX is not afraid to be an actual journalist.

  1. Video taken down already.  Man, it doesn’t take them long these days.  Every single blog post in my feed reader this morning that had a YouTube vid had already been taken down when I tried watching it.

  2. Kevin –
Worked fine for me, so not sure why it is failing for you.  Are you using an accelerator like Google Web Accelerator? If so, it often keeps videos from playing, or delays them for several minutes.

  3. I saw Shep on the Daily show. He doesn’t seem like a bad guy. My cousin is a camera man and editor for Fox News in NYC and knows all the big wigs. He says that O’rielly is pretty bad off the air but not as loud as he is on. (They also had to sign an NDA during his sex scandal.) However Hannity, he says, is many times worse then he is on air. I’m going to call him and ask how work was on Wednesday.
I’ll report back to you guys.

  4. I have to give Fox credit for balanced reporting on the day of the election.

I alternated between CNN and Fox during the election itself.

At first, I thought that Fox was being their usual right-only approach to the news. But as I flipped back and forth, I discovered that my initial view just happened to be early conversations with McCain’s team, who of course were going to be biased.

In fact, I found their coverage to be balanced, fact-based and free of agenda.

On the other hand, I could only take CNN in small doses, as they went to a crowd of left wing panelists for love-ins.

In fact, I would have just stayed with Fox, if they hadn’t done so much local coverage.

JethricOne, stop rattling our dearly beloved stereotypes! wink
