If ever we needed proof that President Bush is fucking nuts…

We can always look to this Washington Post article about interviews Bush has been giving in the Middle East in which he makes predictions about how history will view his legacy as President:

“I can predict that the historians will say that George W. Bush recognized the threats of the 21st century, clearly defined them, and had great faith in the capacity of liberty to transform hopelessness to hope, and laid the foundation for peace by making some awfully difficult decisions,” Bush told Yonit Levi of Israel’s Channel 2 News. Bush held several interviews with Middle Eastern journalists last week in anticipation of his trip to the region, which starts tomorrow.

“When he needed to be tough, he acted strong, and when he needed to have vision he understood the power of freedom to be transformative,” Bush said of himself to Nahum Barnea and Shimon Shiffer of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

As for the people of the Middle East, Bush told Hisham Bourar of al-Hurra Television: “I would hope that they would say President Bush respects my religion and has great love for the human—human being, and believes in human dignity.”

The Bush record, the president told Nadia Bilbassy-Charters of al-Arabiya Television, is one of liberation—“liberation, by the way, not only from dictatorship, but from disease around the world, like HIV/AIDS or malaria.”

On a personal basis, Bush told Bilbassy-Charters that he hopes that people would know “that he hurts when he sees poverty and hopelessness” and “that he’s a realistic guy.”

That man is clearly delusional. Freedom is transformational? You bet it is. It has transformed Iraq into a hell hole even worse than when it was being run by an insane dictator. Who the hell has he liberated from HIV/AIDS and malaria? He hurts when he sees poverty and hopelessness? Apparently not so much that he wasn’t able to veto that expansion to SCHIP. He’s a realistic guy?!? Holy shit, I think I just choked on my fucking sandwich! Hang on a second. I gotta go perform the Heimlech Manuever on myself.

OK, now for the understatement of the year nominee:

Bush’s self-image contrasts sharply with his image among his fellow Americans.

That’s because even though half of Americans were stupid enough to elect this guy twice, the vast majority of them aren’t actually batshit insane. Well, at least 60% of them aren’t.

  1. This is in sharp contrast with real live actual historians which rate Bush as THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER! And considering past presidents, this is a tough title to receive.

  2. Apparently not so much that he wasn’t able to veto that expansion to SCHIP

Whose the minor Rep candidate with his son as campaign manager- Ron Paul? Son was on BBC radio 5, criticising not just spending money on Iraq war, but the massive spend at home that is the real reason for the deficite.  I thought of you when I heard that.

  3. Ron Paul is fucking nuts! The real reason for our defecit is the spending at home?!?!? Yea I guess it has nothing to do with Clinton’s Surplus and how suddenly when Bush took over we have a Defecit? Just a coincidence right? Fuck Ron Paul and Fuck Bush!

  4. @ Webs

Clinton’s surplus was a projection of dot.com bubble profits extending indefinitely.  You may recall the bubble bursting about 6 or 7 years ago.  So, no, I don’t think Ron Paul is nuts for saying a lot of the deficit is caused by government domestic spending.  Farm subsidies, prescription plans, education spending without good results, all the various earmarks our honorable Congresscritters approve for each other’s districts… they all add up.

Ron Paul is the only person I’d want to see in the White House.  Unfortunately, he has a bad way of putting out his message, focusing on arcane things like gold standards and the like instead of saying, freedom good, government bad.

  5. Clinton’s surplus was a projection of dot.com bubble profits extending indefinitely.

Not completely true. One thing Clinton did that is cut spending on issues he promised (during election) he would increase. Despite what conservatives will tell you he did cut spending and managed the US budget pretty well. And the Dot.com bubble didn’t completely finish bursting till after Bush took office, so Bush had time to attempt a fix in the 2002 budget year.

Instead he took us to war and kept his tax cuts. Having tax cuts during a time of war is the most backassward thing economically speaking. Not to mention this war isn’t cheap.

Farm subsidies, prescription plans, education spending without good results, all the various earmarks our honorable Congresscritters approve for each other’s districts… they all add up.

Farm subsidies I’m with you on, there is a lot that could be cut back on that front. And don’t even get me started on Bush’s increase on Farm subsidies. Prescription plans I don’t have much to discuss with since I am for Universal Health Care. If we had a well managed government health care system we wouldn’t have to worry about prescription costs. Education I can’t argue about much either because we are getting a crappy return, however it’s very important we have a federally funded education system as many State Budgets and local city budgets could not afford to pay for all the schooling themselves.

Unfortunately, he has a bad way of putting out his message, focusing on arcane things like gold standards and the like instead of saying, freedom good, government bad.

I would say the thing that kills Ron Paul more is the fact he can speak. Every time I listen to one of his speeches he says something increasingly more nutty. He actually buys into the anti-vaccination bullshit even though he was a medical doctor. What’s up with that?

  6. Well, Bush is really stupid enough to create all the mess that we have now. From the plotted 9/11, with two recession and the IRAQ war that put many lives at stake. Now after 8 years, Bush will apologize for the wrong decisions he made. Holly shit!! He is really stupid and he represent the stupidity of Americans who voted for him in order to make the world to get into its worst condition…Bush go to hell!!
