I was looking forward to this past weekend mainly because it was the first one in a long time that I didn’t have to do a lot of running around. Well, not as much as usual. Friday evening was spent with family to celebrate the birthday of one of my brother-in-laws, Justin. We don’t see them that often so it was nice to have an evening to sit and chat and catch up with how life is going for them.
Saturday was Family Girls at the Movies Night which meant Anne, Courtney and Kathy (my mother-in-law) took the car up to my parents place for a day full of movie watching and munchie eating with my mother and sister. This left us men at home alone to do whatever we wanted. For me that consisted mostly of puttering around on my PC all day alternating between checking in on the folks doing the Blogathon and playing WoW and working on one more broken PC I’ve been meaning to work on. It was nice and slow and restful.
Sunday we did a little running to hook up with old buddy Bob to go see the latest Harry Potter flick at the Dearbon IMAX theater. I don’t have time to write up a proper review at the moment, but let me say that I continue to be impressed with good the movies are considering how much of the books needs to be excised in order to make for a reasonable running length. About 20 minutes of the film near the end was in 3D which made an already overwhelming experience thanks to the massive screen that much more overwhelming. Afterwards we did dinner at the local Olive Garden and came home. Anne’s PC died again on Sunday this time falling prey to the dreaded Hard Drive Click of Doom. Bob was kind enough to loan us a replacement hard drive before we headed home and I spent the rest of the evening rebuilding Anne’s PC and reinstalling WoW for her. She was doing laundry in the basement so she played WoW on my PC while I worked.
Today is Go Back To Work Day, also known as Monday, and with any luck there’ll be enough to do that I don’t sit around bored, but I’m not holding my breath. When I get home I’ll spend some time trying to recover what data I can from Anne’s hard drive, but I’m not too worried as I at least have a backup on my system if worse comes to worst.
So how was your weekend?
