Natural Selection in action: How NOT to drift a car.

There’s some things I just don’t understand and “drifting” is one of them. It’s the sort of sport that attracts more than the usual number of showoffs who don’t understand that they’re skating along the thin edge between being in control and out of control. People like this guy…

The sad part is I’m willing to bet that if he still has functional legs and arms after that little fiasco that he’s already announced his intention to do it again.

  1. Interesting how they had an ambulance right handy like that.

I once got thrown by a horse.  Horses are stronger than humans.  Wrap 300 or so horses up in a compact steel frame, and you really wouldn’t want to tangle with them.

  2. The organizers probably had to have medics on standby.

By the way, if the vehicle’s front wheels were powered and not the back wheels, the guy may well have lost of full use of limbs. Reminds me of the explanation given why it’s Really Bad Idea to try to stop a car by sticking out your foot if the normal brakes don’t work.

  3. It’s hard to make out what the announcer is saying but I think it’s something like:

Will the hearse please report to the drifting area, no rush, thank you.

That would also make some accident report!

But Les, without this “sport” and others like it, YouTube wouldn’t be filled to the brim with wholesome and educational Darwinian fun.

  5. Offcourse they have an ambualnce, its and orginized motorsport event, and drifiting is only showing off, its not really a race, which is a common misconception, and if it wasn’t for darwin, we woulden’t have hitler.

  6. I was wondering how long it would be before someone showed up spouting nonsense from that stupid Darwin video the religious nuts put together. Took less time than I thought.

  7. I can’t be sure, but Ray may be joking.  Everyone knows that even if Hitler didn’t come along, someone like him was inevitable once Darwin published his ideas… wink
