Poor put upon Ann Coulter. Matt Lauer got “testy” with her.

I feel so bad for Ann “I make Bill O’Reilly look positively cuddly” Coulter. She was on the Today show this morning hyping her new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism when Matt Lauer found his testicles and decided to challenge her on something she wrote about the 9/11 Widows in the book. First, here’s what she wrote:

These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much.

And here’s part of the transcript of her talk with Lauer today:

LAUER: So if you lose a husband, you no longer have the right to have a political point of view?

COULTER: No, but don’t use the fact that you lost a husband as the basis for being able to talk about, while preventing people from responding. Let Matt Lauer make the point. Let Bill Clinton make the point. Don’t put up someone I am not allowed to respond to without questioning the authenticity of their grief.

LAUER: Well apparently you are allowed to respond to them.

COULTER: Yeah, I did.

LAUER: So, in other words.

COULTER: That is the point of liberal infallibility. Of putting up Cindy Sheehan, of putting out these widows, of putting out Joe Wilson. No, no, no. You can’t respond. It’s their doctrine of infallibility. Have someone else make the argument then.

LAUER: What I’m saying is I don’t think they have ever told you, you can’t respond.

COULTER: Look, you are getting testy with me.

Holy shit! Matt Lauer was getting testy with Ann Coulter! HELP! HELP! SHE’S BEING REPRESSED!

Here’s a bit of unsolicited advice for Ann Coulter: Grow the fuck up. You’ve made millions off of being a total right wing batshit crazy bitch who appeals to the worst elements of your chosen political affiliation. You’ve got absolutely no leg to stand on when complaining about the left putting out people “you can’t respond to.” Obviously you can respond to them and go as far as to suggest that the people involved are enjoying the deaths of their loved ones because it’s put them into the spotlight. Hey, at least it gives them something of a basis to hold the viewpoints they do whereas you’re just shooting your mouth off in as outrageous a manner as you can in hopes it’ll net you more book sales to pad your bottom line with. Considering the bullshit you spew on a regular basis, your whining about the 9/11 Widows is a display of your amazing arrogance to think you’ve got anything to bitch about.

People like you are enough to make me wish there really was a God who has a true sense of justice just so I could see the look on your face when he ends up tossing your ass out. If anything, you’re ample proof no such God exists.

  1. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony

    Dear Ms Coulter,

How about if we were to say

Americans believe the entire World was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony.

    Not very nice, is it.

  2. It amazes me that there is still anyone out there that thinks there is a liberal media conspiracy and that nutjobs like Coulter and Savage are bravely leading the charge against it.

I fully support this hag’s right to say anything she wants (as I support anyone’s right to say what they want), but I am extremely disheartened that she gets so much support.  Not really suprised, but disheartened.

A question for anyone not living in the US.  Is it this bad where you live?  I realize it could (and probably will) get a lot worse, and I really want to get out of here as soon as possible, and I’d like a good, sane, preferrably english speaking (though I could live in a spanish speaking nation) country that is not controlled by the US.  I consider myself a real patriot, but I’m tired of seeing my country becoming a theocracy.

  3. Buzz- wanna set up a commune in Canada?  To listen to our right wing papers you would think than Blair is Stalin, BUT who wants to give all non British (non English even) people, esepcially terrorist, your house, and make you Osama’s personal catamite.  Not all of them are that even handed.

  4. Another right-wing talking head who can dish it out but can’t take it. Who’s surprised? These people seem to have the emotional security of first-graders.

Ms. Coulter’s rants reveal so much more about her than about the people she’s vilifying.

  5. Last_Hussar – Here I thought Blair was more right wing leaning, but I have to say I haven’t paid that much attention to him except in relation to the Iraq debacle.  He’s Labor party right?  Anyway, I guess he’s not Thatcher, so that’s a bonus for you (maybe).

I’ve thought about moving to Canada more than a few times myself, but I’m not a big fan of winter.  New Zealand and Australia have come to mind too.  In any event I suspect I might move just to find that things aren’t much different…

  6. Coulter’s about as obnoxious and extreme as you can get on the right (without throwing a sheet over your head) and even though I lean conservative in many areas I find myself cringing whenever she opens her mouth.

Buried beneath all the offensive rhetoric, she does make a point of sorts. People speaking out on their own is one thing, but is it entirely fair for a party (either party) to put forth a victim of a tragedy (any tragedy) as their spokesperson on an issue? It does make whoever speaks out on the opposing side of the debate look like a real asshole just for disagreeing with the person who suffered the tragedy.

Seems like a tactic calculated to discourage debate.

  7. You know it hard not to comment on nut jobs like Coulter, but it’s better not to.  Everytime she looks like an ass or a saint in print or on some other media form, we give fuel to the fire, and probably earn her another book sale or two.

Besides what would StupidEvilBastard write so elequently about if there were no Coulter’s?

  8. Breif History of Blairs Britain

The British Labour Party was originally set up by the Trade Unions on a vaguely socialist principles.  It was they who brought in the welfare state after the war.

In the seventies the economic slump meant that when they won power in 73 it was a bit of a poisoned chalice.  There is some evidence that the devaluation of the pound, and the subsequent IMF bail out was orchestrated by those in the ‘establishment’ to embarrass the socialist.  This led to the so called winter of discontent when many unions struck.  Unemployment soared to 750,000, allowing Thatcher and the Conservative party (Tories) to claim ‘Labour isnt working’- complete with poster of Dole queue.  the Winter of 78, plus tthe jobless put Thatcher and the Tories in.  Thatch brought in a whole load of anti union laws, and imposed Monetarism (aka Reaganomics).  Unempoloyment soared to 3-4million- they kept changing the way it was counted.  The Falklands war won her a Khaki election in 83, (helped by a particually crap Labour manifesto, which included pulling out of NATO and unilateral nuclear disarmament. No matter what the rights or wrongs of this are- saying this is the early 80s was election suicide.

Throughout the 80’s Thatch privatised many state owned industries.  Americans need to understand that Europe has for tha past few decades regarded national industries as a ‘citizen thing’.  Once she got away with British airways (then loss making) she kept pushing- water gas and electricity were all put on the stock exchange and into the hands of private investors.  The shares were undervalued menaing those who bought them became rich, and the profits used to cut taxes.  No one was allowed to grumble- surely the Tories had made everyone rich, and taxes were lowered.  Well thats ok if you were not poor- industry was contracting under the fledgling ‘global trade’ and those who were suffering, and not reaping the Tory profits were traditional Labour voters.  Many more had been bribed to vote Tory by the great cash give away.

The problem is you can only sell off the family silver once.  And the corruption was beginning to tell- Government ministers were turning up on the boards of companies they had help sell off, the economy was rocky, state institutions were underfunded, at that bloody woman had become a electorial liability, and she was ousted in favour of John Major.  No one expected him to win the 92 election, it was going to be a Labour walk overThey had been slowly abandoning some of their more left wing principles, and trying to throw extremeists out.  Of course, some would say they were not extremists, and that it is all spin.

When Blair took over in 94 following the unexpected death of the last of the ‘old Labour’ leaders, John Smith, he began to move away from a socialist party. New Labour was for the people not outdated ideas.  To some of us he began to look like ‘Thatcher Lite’.

Following the win in 97 he kept with Tory economics.  New Public buildings have to be a Public Private Partnership.  Private industry builds and runs a school, for instance.  Then rent it back off them, they run the services.  At the end of the lease they get to keep the building.  We have paid for the building and running of the school, plus the builders profit, and end up with nothing.

Latest great idea. City acadamies (for 11-16 year olds). State provides £25m, private industry provides £2m, they get to run it…  The only thing that stops a couple of them teaching ID as science is the public outrage that happened when it got out.  Blair seems to be a ‘teach the controvesy type’  Now guess what he does Sunday mornings…

It became fairly obvious that he supported Bush over Kerry.  Funny to think of his left wing credentials when he entered parliament in 86.

Sorry this is so long.  US politics is slowly taking over ours, and it pisses me off.

  9. Hussar – Thanks for the explanation, it’s very enlightening.  In any event, yes, it does look like Bush Co. is using Thatcher’s reign as a roadmap, as there are great pushes to privatize everything from water rights to airport security here.

Guess Great Britain is off my list of places to move to…

  10. Awesome analysis Hussar.  You know, this provokes the question I am asking over here.  How the hell do these morons that destroy the lower and middle class keep getting elected.  I know people are stupid but come on.

  11. KPatrick, the point Coulter makes is absurd.  The democrats have nothing to do with the 9/11 families speaking out.  The families did that on their own accord.  Everybody has a political opinion to some degree in this country, and just because it leans to the left or the right, does not mean the left or the right is using them and their opinions for their own gain.  Thats a logical fallacy.  And like Matt Lauer said on the show, the families were pissed off at Bill Clinton and had plenty of questions for him.

The fact is, is that people like Coulter have a lot at stake with a President like Bush, and if he screws up, it makes people like Coulter look bad for defending him.  So instead they attack the other side and say crap like, “Oh thats character assassination.”  Or the Democrats are just taking advantage of the situation.

  12. KPatrick, the point Coulter makes is absurd.  The democrats have nothing to do with the 9/11 families speaking out.  The families did that on their own accord.

In this instance I agree completely. What I meant was, buried in her ridiculous diatribe was a kernal of truth. There have been times when political parties used the victims of tragedies as spokespersons to make it harder to attack their position.

I don’t believe that it’s the case with the 911 widows who went to the press.

I think it was the case with some of the republican propaganda using family members of rescue workers post 911 to promote the war on terror. I think the same can be said to some degree about Cindy Sheehan on the Dems side.

    Course that’s just my 2 cents…..

  13. Awesome analysis Hussar.

Of course there are those who would say that I’m just a leftie do-gooder who is needs to realise that Thatch made Britain GREAT, and liberals like Blair are destroying it due to their wimpishness.

Guess Great Britain is off my list of places to move to…

Pity- much of it is very beautiful, plus all that history.  Rampant Capatalism is the problem- profit before people.

  14. entirely fair for a party (either party) to put forth a victim of a tragedy (any tragedy) as their spokesperson

The right do it all the time- except they have the press to do it for them.  After 7/7 The Sun, a slime of a Murdoch paper printed a picture of a victim urging those who banned the new anti terror laws to think of this victim.  The whole thing backfired when the victim became publically very angry, as even after the attacks he opposed the curtailing of civil liberties.

(sorry to double- didnt realise KPG and Webs got before my long one- ooooerrr- just realised it took half an hour to write from the time on KP’s post)

  15. And two wrongs don’t make a….
    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I’ll think you’ll find the more wrongs start talking, the more Right they get.

  16. Sorry about the confusion.  I do also agree that too often people are used for political gain.  Such is the life of a politician to use people

  17. Les: You’ve made millions off of being a total right wing batshit crazy bitch who appeals to the worst elements of your chosen political affiliation.

I’ve seen her once on a discussion panel with a coupla wankers and A. Huffington.
The RWing BCBitch was able to speak without being interrupted but she continuously interjected when someone else spoke.
I thought she was rather masterful in her personal belittling ability which was laced with sarcasm.
No one had the balls to attack her in a similar manner.

Buzz: New Zealand and Australia have come to mind too.  In any event I suspect I might move just to find that things aren’t much different…

Ummm. Believe it or not, it IS much different. Over here the right-wingers Don’t go on with too much lefty-bashing hype. There are far too many ‘swinging voters’ so they all have to be a bit careful as we have compulsory voting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_electoral_system (see Compulsory Voting), and the people are fickle.
We used to have one pollie who called those on the other side a bunch of socialists but he was a fucking joke – after all he was a Queenslander and also master of the mixed metaphor like: waiting for the cows to come home to roost.

LH: US politics is slowly taking over ours, and it pisses me off.

Nice history lesson, mate. Interesting. There are many parallels in Oz.
Here in Oz I sometimes think US politics is taking over too, but then I realise we don’t have that Theocracy hovering over us all, yet.

KPG: And two wrongs don’t make a….

Back in the 50s we still had the White Australia Policy.
Doc Evatt (a lefty) once said: Two Wongs don’t make a White. LOL

  18. LuckyJohn: I thought she [Coulter] was rather masterful in her personal belittling ability which was laced with sarcasm.
No one had the balls to attack her in a similar manner.

I will occassionally watch Fox News for a giggle, and every now and then Ann will appear on Hannity and Colmes. It’s always her usual blather about how evil us liberals are and how right-wing conservatives are the most oppressed people in the history of the universe. The snark is non-stop with her, but anytime anyone takes her to task for her words, she gets all “take a load off Annie” and righteously indignant. She’s definitely her own biggest fan.

LH: US politics is slowly taking over ours, and it pisses me off.

All I can say is that I hope the British right-wing movement doesn’t eventually become as successful as it has over on this side of the pond. Keep fighting, folks—do not go gentle into that good night.

  19. Have you ever seen spoiled kids? I mean, the way they act? It’s always name calling and finger pointing. Have you ever seen an intelligent person speak, for example, Abe Lincoln?

Liberals will always be a joke because they can’t help putting profanity in each of their erudite points? Yes, really classy.

If I just came to this country and I heard Ann Coulter speak, then I heard one of you brain-dead zombies, guess which party I would want to be affiliated?

Oh, here’s some advice. Next time you disagree with someone, after you finish going through every profanity you can imagine, why don’t you just throw a brick at them?

  20. It’s nice to see, in general, only mild contempt for Coulter on this site.

Once again, she shows that she is beneath contempt; beneath discussion; beneath contemplation.

She is just somebody who gets by in the world by being hateful and angry—honestly, what kind of existance is that?

  21. Have you ever seen spoiled kids?

Yes Tony, and in Britain it is the Right wing press.  Oppose, say, detention without trial, and they will try and paint you a someone who really wants an Islamic Theocracy.  A recent columnist in the Sun said it is ok for police to shoot first, ask questions later.  He has not lost a family member because
    1) two armed policemen could not tell the difference between a gun and a table leg
    2) the security services could not correctly identify a suspect from the asian subcontinent, and instead chased a Brazilian man from the same block of flats onto the London Tube and shot him in the head.

How has Liberal Do-gooder become an insult?  Why is the opposite, a bigoted do-badder considered better?

Have you ever seen an intelligent person speak, for example, Abe Lincoln?

I’m sure this will attract a lot of jokes, pointing out neither have you.  I have read an awful lot of intelligent comment on the human condition that says we should help those less fortunate than ourselves, erudite tracts on why business must not define us, and well considered polemics on human rights.

Oh, here’s some advice. Next time you disagree with someone, after you finish going through every profanity you can imagine, why don’t you just throw a brick at them?

Why not, thats what the Right do.

  22. Tony: If I just came to this country and I heard Ann Coulter speak, then I heard one of you brain-dead zombies, guess which party I would want to be affiliated?

It must hurt to be you, then.

  23. If I just came to this country and I heard Ann Coulter speak, then I heard one of you brain-dead zombies, guess which party I would want to be affiliated?

Come on Mr. Snow, you know you just want to shag Ann…..

  24. Huh a conservative that makes no decent points or political point and bashes liberals.  Wow, never seen that before… [ROLL MY EYES] especially on a blog.  Pretty original.  Maybe you should come back when you want to debate a political point Tony.

  25. Hey Tony, fuck you. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

“The idea that no gentleman ever swears is all wrong. He can swear and still be a gentleman if he does it in a nice and benevolent and affectionate way.”
      – Mark Twian, Private and Public Morals speech, 1906
  26. Tony: Liberals will always be a joke because they can’t help putting profanity in each of their erudite points?

That sentence interested me so much I actually wasted my time and went back through the thread to see who had been profane, before your ‘observation’.
I was surprised at the lack of profuckingfanity.
Les said: Batshit crazy bitch – to a right-wing bat-shit crazy bitch like you, this could be profane.
And he said: one Fuck, One Bullshit and One Ass.
Webs: One Ass and one Pissed off.
Last_Hassar: The filthy man actually said one embarr-ass.
Foul-mouthed Me: said Fucking joke … and that’s what you are, mate. A fucking joke.
I think you’ve misunderstood the meaning of the word Profanity to mean, any use of words describing a point of view which differs to yours.

KPG: Come on Mr. Snow, you know you just want to shag Ann…..

He couldn’t get it up, mate.
He’s a right-wing bat-shit crazy Wanker who only dreams of getting it on with the exciting Ms Coulter. LOL

  27. I was surprised at the lack of profuckingfanity.

I love you, John.  And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

  28. Zilch: And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Am I milking it too much if I say DittfuckingO? LOL

  29. Boy, that Kathy Griffin really zing’s Ann Coulter on her choice of dress. Really funny. Ha-ha-ha-ha…um…ha-ha…uh…ha. And I’ll bet Al Franken will also say some funny stuff on Air America. What a great radio network that is. I can’t wait until we “libs” go back to talking about how we want to shoot and kill our political opponents. Now that’s sure to help the debate. Oh yeah! We’re really smart when we do that. We are “intellectually honest”. Oh yeah.

  30. At least we don’t put our desire to shoot our political opponents into practice, let alone shooting our own friends like the V.P. did.

  31. It’s too bad all you bunch of lefty morons wouldn’t move to Canada, so we superior conservatives can live in peace without your treason destroying our wonderful nation!

  32. It’s more fun staying here and pissing off folks like you, Joe. Thanks for the encouragement, it’s nice to know we’re accomplishing our goals.

  33. The great thing is, it’s us who are pissing off you lefties more than vice-versa. We keep winning elections and our values are dominant among Americans generally. We’re not the rabid angry nutjobs throwing pies at speakers from the opposing side, damaging the opposition’s vehicles, and screaming like banshees about hoped-for future election victories (Howard Dean).

  34. Quit wasting your breath, Joe. It’s sad, really. Come back when you have a substantive point to make.

  35. What a great day with the removal from the planet of another Muslim subhuman vermin terrorist, huh! Take care and be well.

  36. Ms. Coulter is a bitch. There, I said it. Were you offended by my use of profanity? At least I was honest. Granted, I could say that I believe she is rude, politically incorrect, etc. That, however, is merely a method for concealing what I honestly believe, that she is all those things and a bitch. Simply put, there is no reason why profanity should make an argument less valid a point that it otherwise would be. In point of fact, NOT using profanity is dishonest. This is an issue which tends to become emotional very quickly and I am angry, therefore I am profane. More to the point, don’t you think its a bit silly for us to say that profanity actually offends anyone anymore? We’re all adults and we’re all fully capable of swearing and tolerating those who do. Some would argue that those who use profanity do so because they have a small vocabulary or that its use simply displays the users ignorance. This is ridiculous. Here, let’s try this on for size. I scored a 158 on a language based IQ test and yet I can still comfortably say that Ms. Coulter is a fucking cock-slobbing, mentally-deficient, thunder-cunt who desperately needs to be He-man bitch-slapped into a previously unknown dimension of pain with a shit-smeared snow shovel. There, was that offensive? All I said was that I believe that Ms. Coulter often times speaks of subjects which she has little to no knowledge and therefore her opinion has no place in a public forum. smile

  37. The great thing is, it’s us who are pissing off you lefties more than vice-versa. We keep winning elections and our values are dominant among Americans generally

Joe, nothing is dominant among Americans (except possibly bad taste). Elections are cyclical, they flip back and forth every ten years, give or take. May as well prepare yourself, things are trending towards a flip.

Oh, lest I forget, Joe, you’re a smeghead.

As for Ms Coulter, all I can think every time she opens her mouth is that it would look much better with a dick in it. Probably be more productive, too.

  38. Joe: The great thing is, it’s us who are pissing off you lefties more than vice-versa.

Hmmmm…seems to me that if faux, right-wing populist outrage weren’t the current trend, moonbats like Ann Coulter wouldn’t be given the attention that they are. The backlash Right appears to feed off of anger for its very existence; lefties such as myself would be content just to live and let live.

  39. Joe: … so we superior conservatives can live in peace without your treason destroying our wonderful nation!

Ah, Joe. Live in peace? At what price?
Most sociopathic dictators have tried to get rid of their intelligentsia social class: Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol, et al, because they are a sort of social conscience.
Are you a sociopath, Joe, or just your plain, common variety, dumb fuck? confused

  40. Good one, LuckyJohn! The swearing really adds a powerful touch. Keep up your excellent work. wink

  41. I thought you guys loved people like Stalin, Mao, and Castro. Why do you denigrate them when it suits your response?

  42. Joe, we already know you’re an idiot. You don’t have to demonstrate the amazing depths of your ignorance any further.

  43. OK, OK, I’ll be on my merry way now. I know when I’m not welcome. It’s been a blast, but I understand a conservative is never welcome on a leftist screed board. Just thought I’d check in anyway for a bit. Now back to my productive, happy life in the real world. Take care!  grin

  44. I thought you guys loved people like Stalin, Mao, and Castro. Why do you denigrate them when it suits your response?

You’re not very good at this, are you? First time?

Your comments are a bit, well, premature. Perhaps, as you get some practice, you’ll learn to control your excitement and not spurt all over the thread so quickly.
