Libby says Bush authorized him to leak classified documents.

Say, does anyone remember way back in September of 2003 when Bush called the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s name a “criminal action” and vowed to fire anyone who was involved in it?

“There’s been nothing, absolutely nothing, brought to our attention to suggest any White House involvement, and that includes the vice president’s office, as well,” said Scott McClellan, Bush’s press secretary. He said that “if anyone in this administration was involved in it, they would no longer be in this administration.”

So would one of you Republican Bush supporters out there care to explain why Dick Cheney still has a job? Or, for that matter, why Bush hasn’t resigned yet?

WASHINGTON — President Bush personally authorized leaking classified information to deflect Iraq war critics at a time when declining public support for the invasion threatened his reelection campaign, according to testimony from a former senior White House aide.

The assertion, which came in a filing late Wednesday by federal prosecutors in the perjury case against I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, connects the president for the first time to a case that until now publicly focused on the activities of senior aides and the office of Vice President Dick Cheney. Libby, Cheney’s former chief of staff, is facing charges related to the disclosure of a CIA operative’s identity.

What really cracks me up is how kiss-ass Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is pretty much blowing it off as a “he can do that” type thing:

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said the president has the “inherent authority to decide who should have classified information.” The White House declined to comment, citing the ongoing criminal probe into the leak of Plame’s identity.

Alberto Gonzales is the best AG a corrupt President could hope for. Bush could shoot a small child in the head on live TV and Gonzales would claim it was within the President’s power to do so thanks to the War!On!Terror! and the Congressional resolution that states he’s to use any and all force necessary in carrying it out.

Won’t someone please give Bush a blowjob so we can finally impeach his ass? Hell, I’m at the point that if I thought he’d accept it I’d give him one myself just to get him out of office, but considering what a good job Gonzales is probably doing already Bush would probably turn my offer down.

  1. How many times does this kind of shit have to occur before the millions of Americans who voted for Bush realize what a mistake they’ve made?

  2. Let me amend my previous statement before the fireworks begin (I’m looking at you, Consi wink). Yes, millions of Americans voted for Bush in 2004, many for reasons with which I wholeheartedly disagree. It would be short-sighted and inaccurate, however, to assume that every Bush-voter cast her/his ballot for the same reasons. Additionally, I’m sure that many of those who voted Bush/Cheney in 2004 have come to question or perhaps doubt the wisdom in their action.

Still, it would be disingenuous to deny the existence of people who continue to sing Bush’s praises regardless of the various mistakes and acts of questionable legality that he has committed.

I’m scared that image may live in my mind until I die
