Carol Crooks is a nutcase

A citizen of Greenville, SC expresses her views in an opinion article online about how the “Bible tells the truth about our creation”.

Bible tells the truth about our creation

Why is it that these evolutionists are trying so hard to deny that God created the Earth and all that is on it? Now we have an “educated” minister who claims that seminaries have proved that the beginning chapters of the Bible were not written according to the Word of God, but by unknown authors and added to the Bible by some editor. How about the words in John 1:1-4?

I don’t think much of a minister who felt it was more important to preach about things he didn’t believe, rather than risking his post by not pleasing his (ignorant) congregation.

Ok, typical rhetoric.  Whatever.  This is what gets me …

The theory of evolution does not and cannot explain so much about the universe that we know. For instance, when and how did water evolve? How does it happen that gravity can hold us to the Earth, and at the same time allow us to step up without any trouble? How did it happen that the Earth is spinning at the exact rate that keeps us from feeling that movement?

She doesn’t even go for the standard argument IDiots use about how bacteria flagella are too complex to have evolved.  Obviously, this lady has never taken even a BASIC science class!  She goes strait for the dumbest, most ludicrous arguments.  I am afraid to think about how many people out there actually think like this?!?!?  Did she stop going to school after 3rd grade?  “How did water evolve?”!?!?!  oh.  my.  g-d.

  1. when and how did water evolve?

Water evolving? Water simply occurs as a repeatable chemical reaction wherever hydrogren and oxygen are present. Hydrogen, consisting of a single proton is the most common element in the universe, and oxygen is also reasonably abundant. Water is the ubiquitous result of chemical laws.

I’ve never laughed so hard before. The next questions are going to be “How does oil evolve into gasoline?” “How does a cheeseburger evolve into shit?”

  2. Hi Jeffercine, sweetie! Glad to see you back around these quarters.

Moloch: The next questions are going to be “How does oil evolve into gasoline?

  3. thanks Sexy Sadie!  I have been around, just not been commenting much.  grin

Is ‘devole the southern slang for ‘devil’?  grin

  4. Is ‘devole the southern slang for ‘devil’?

Well, that would make sense, seeing how we’re discussing “devilution” and other Satanic offerings.  wink

  5. Anyone notice 3 responses up on GreenvilleOnline:

Christian Exodus is a group that is angry over the marginalization of religion in our society. Its leader, Cory Burnell, does not live here but far away in California. He wants families to commit to move to our part of the state, run for office, take over state government, secede from the Union and force all to live in a totally theocratic society dominated by the Christian evangelicals. There is no middle ground for these folks. It’s their way or the highway.

Uh-oh.  Looks like the EAC* better get him outta there before anyone figures out the EAC plan to get the fundies out of the way.  We don’t need Cory’s cover blown.  wink **

** Ok, if it doesn’t get a chuckle, I blame the tequila.

  6. Shit, I got starbucks frapaccino all over my nice shiny LCD screen and desk

And you do know what frappacino consists of, don’t you, Iolite?  Yep- 99% water.  Better watch your sass.

  7. Was she maybe trying to ask how elements and the physical laws that govern them and allow them to regroup and form new substances came into existence, or how complex laws of physics came into being randomly?

Don’t get me wrong, evolution is the best theory for how the world is the way it is we have, but it and science in general fail to explain a lot of things presently.  It’s why a theory like Intelligent Design is so appealing, things are the way they are because someone who knew what they were doing made them this way.

  8. Wow! This woman’s questions are about as dumb as the ones presented to me one time by creationists. Just because it still makes me laugh while scaring me, I will repeat them.

One feels emotions which there is no scientific explination for, therefore God exists because we feel emotions.

You can cut the stupid with a knife and still have some left over

If humans evolved from apes then why are there still apes?

    (snicker)

    Here’s the kicker

Darwin made up the theory of evolution, it’s all just made up BS

    Just like the bible? Hmm.

Anyway, ID morons reject modern science and don’t care about how ignorant they are. It’s very scary just how many stupid folks there are out there.

  9. Was she maybe trying to ask how elements and the physical laws that govern them and allow them to regroup and form new substances came into existence, or how complex laws of physics came into being randomly?

Jim, that would be a very generous interpretation of the good lady’s questions.  I too think she has some catching up to do, starting with fourth grade science, before she is ready to investigate the fine tuning of the laws of physics.

Don’t get me wrong, evolution is the best theory for how the world is the way it is we have, but it and science in general fail to explain a lot of things presently.

True enough.  But it explains more all the time, unlike old fairy tales.

It’s why a theory like Intelligent Design is so appealing, things are the way they are because someone who knew what they were doing made them this way.

That’s the appeal of “Don’t worry your pretty little head about understanding these things- that Big Guy in the Sky takes care of all the complicated stuff”.  If the complexity of the world needs explaining, positing an even more complex Superbeing who created it all doesn’t explain anything.

  10. At least you guys don’t actually know people like her.  The stories I could tell…

  11. I’d say something to the effect of “Even though we in Texas have DeLay, at least he’s not a total idiot,” but then again, he did say there was not a single proof evolution.

    *shame*
