Amazon.com takes a stab at what the Sony PlayStation3 will cost.

The folks at Amazon.com have listed the Sony PlayStation3 in their catalog already so folks can start adding it to their wish lists. They’re also guessing that the launch price will be $299.99 which is pretty impressive considering all the noise Sony’s been making about how expensive the PS3 will be. No less than Ken Kutaragi himself has suggested that early adopters will need to “work some extra hours” in order to be able to afford a PS3 when it first hits store shelves.

Not that I’d complain if it actually comes in at $299.99 as that makes it a little more palatable. Assuming I’m actually working full-time when it’s released here. One interesting thing to note about the Amazon.com listing is the number of reviews the system has already gotten despite it not being available and very few people having actually touched working hardware. Fanboys, gotta love ‘em.

  1. Would this be the same Amazon.com that invented a page count and multiple different release dates for George R.R. Martin’s A Feast for Crows long before the book was actually finished?
