We apologize for the interruption in service.

Looks like the site was offline for part of the day today. Not sure for how long, though I suspect it was pretty early this morning as I got an email from a reader before I left for work that notified me to the initial problem. When I tried it around 8AM it wasn’t sending any data at all and when I got home late this afternoon it was displaying “THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED!”

It has? I thought to myself, confused because I can distinctly recall a payment going out just recently for the hosting account. I tried to think if there was anything in particular I could think of that would qualify for the account to be suspended, but came up with nothing. So a quick submission to my host’s help desk and within a few minutes we were back in business. Still don’t know why it went down, but I’m sure I’ll hear from them sooner or later.

So if you tried to stop by and were wondering that the hell is going on, well, you aren’t any more informed than before, but we’re back.

Update: Turns out that our account was suspended because we were chewing through diskspace like nobody’s business. Something went awry with EE’s caching system that resulted in us using up some 46 Gigs of space and growing at about a rate of 200 megs every 30 seconds. The site’s definitely popular, that’s for sure. So I’ve gone through and turned off all the caching I could in EE for the moment and this may result in the pages rendering a tad slower than usual, but it should allow us to continue operating until I can work out what went wrong.

    Btw, I don’t furiously type…I am actually quite calm.  You haven’t seen me furious yet.
