Dad’s coming home.

Mom just called to let me know that Dad is coming home for a few days as his pneumonia has cleared up, but they’re not sure when they will reschedule his surgery. So those of you who have been kind enough to give him a ring and lighten his day while he was in the hospital can stop calling now.

I want to extend a very big thank you to all of you who took the time as it really made my Dad’s day to get those calls and hear from people whose comments he reads regularly. It helped to make his stay a little less boring and gave him something to look forward to. Your small act had a big impact and I thank you very much for your time. Once his surgery is scheduled we’ll let you know.

  1. That is very good news, that he is coming home.  Hospitals are tolerable for a day or two, but extended stays can be absolutely excruciatingly boring.

  2. Les: I’m happy for you and your Dad.  I know what it is to be in a hospital in a strange town, far from home, with no friends around. I was in a VA hospital in Milwaukee a long time ago: in bed for 2 months, in a wheel chair for 2 months and on crutches for a month before discharge. I don’t want to go through that ever again as it was a living hell.  Nothing to do, no one to talk to except similar vets whom you never ask “How ya feeling?

  3. Hooray!  I’m glad to hear your Dad’s getting over the pneumonia!  I hope he continues getting better.

  4. I’m so glad our small contributions made a positive difference to your Dad. We all gained from the experience, too. Please let us know an update of his situation. And let him know we are all thinking about him and wishing him well.
