Now that is journalism!

A recent BBC article titled Fox News ‘propaganda’ says mogul, has Ted Turner commenting on the Fox News network.

“There’s one network, Fox, that’s a propaganda voice for them,” the 66-year-old media mogul said.

“It’s certainly legal. But it does pose problems for our democracy when the news is ‘dumbed-down’.”

Not to have their good name bashed, Fox News, maintaing their journalistic integrity, responded by saying:

“Ted is understandably bitter having lost his ratings, his network and now his mind – we wish him well.”

Arguably, one could say that it is up to the individual to keep themselves informed, so that they might be an effective member of the democratic system. However it is sad, when the major voice in America chooses not to keep the public informed, by only reporting half the story.

A lie of omission is still a lie.

  1. Boo Hoo Ted you stupid git. Your dumbass started this insipid news pablam and now you are bitching about its offspring—Fox News. Why does’nt he just say its all shit—confession is good for the soul—godgirl Jane should have taught him that. One other thing when you here about a constitional amendment allowing non-native born citizens to become president—don’t think of President Swartzenegger think of President Murdoch!

  2. Just to be sure that you are not falling to the problem of failing to report the whole story, Ted called FOX an arm of the Bush administration and compared FOXNEWS’s popularity to Hitler’s popular election to run Germany before WWII, hence racking up his 2nd apology to the ADL for mindless statements comparing anyone he doesn’t like to Nazis or “Zionists.”

  3. I guess I just assumed people would read the link I placed and I didn’t have much of comment on Turner comparing the Bush administration to Nazis. I kind of agree with him, the only part I am not usre of is whether I have lost my mind or the world has lost theirs.

Maybe I just have an overactive imagination, but when I see the stuff that Fox News reports and how they report it, I just get this picture of millions of bloodthirsty Americans yelling at their television, reving up the war machine.

  4. Wasn’t Ted Turner the one who called viewers who fast-forwarded through commercials “thieves”?

  5. I kind of agree with him, the only part I am not usre of is whether I have lost my mind or the world has lost theirs.

If you agree with Ted Turner, its you.  Anyone with a ounce of historical context should look at Teddies comments (not just this set of crap) should see that he is a complete idiot.  He is fine with the liberal slant of his (and most of the MSM) shitty network, but if he percieves someone else pulling his con he starts yelling nazi.

Maybe I just have an overactive imagination, but when I see the stuff that Fox News reports and how they report it, I just get this picture of millions of bloodthirsty Americans yelling at their television, reving up the war machine.

Far better than millions drooling in front of CNN, waiting for some talking head to tell them how they should FEEL about the news rather than how they should think about the facts.

You know, far too many people judge FoxNews by O’Reilly alone.  As a conservative Hawk, I can tell you that the man is a fucking asshole.  But the network itself, as a whole, comes alot closer to “just reporting the facts” than CNN ever could hope to.  And that goes for MSNBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, and damn near the whole MSM.

“News” is reported by people.  Its a sad fact that a vast majority of those people are of a political bent that make them feel as they need to interpret the news for their viewers/readers.  They are the learned ones and they need to do more than just report, they need to place the news in the context THEY think in which it belongs.  “We will tell you whats important,” they declare.

The Internet will, in time, fix this situation, IMHO.  Raw news, raw data is available to those that seek it.  Those that do not, deserve what they get.  At least now Fox gives these sheep a choice between the pussy-whipped, liberal demogogary of CNN and their own imperfect “reporting.”

Ted is just worried that the world will start to think for themselves, religating him to the obscurity he deserves.  He was a competent businessman that got caught up in his own press; from the press he owned.

    Fuck Ted Turner.

  6. I have to admit that I don’t have a whole lot against Fox News once you get rid of the assholes like O’Reilly, but then that’s true of most of the major news sources. I don’t care for the pundit shows on any of those channels.

I’m the sort that likes to see what more than one source is saying about a topic, though, so I can compare and contrast and form my own opinion. I tend to watch the local Fox affiliate in the morning and I watch NBC Nightly News or ABC’s Evening news every so often. Most of the time I’ll hit more than one news website to see what’s happening.

  7. Yeah, Im sorta of the same.  Ill hit one news channel until something really pisses me off about their coverage then move to the next.  During “an event” Ill head to Fox first, since they tend to report on what has happened rather than their reporters feelings about what happened.

I get 95% of my hard news from the internet.  If there is something going on a feel is worthy of my time, I can read 1000 in-depth articles about that subject and research the background, history, ramifications and effects until Im tierd of it.

I do have one rant on a current trend in “news”, especially of the CBS/NBC/ABC idiots—The man in the street interview.  Who in the fuck cares what some random jerk in the street thinks about Greenspan, the Middle East, Global currency rates?  Half of them dont even understand the question.  Its bad enough listening to pundits that are pushing their books more than the facts of an issue, but 12 Emily Latella’s on a street corner is just too much.

  8. I completely gave up on CNN when they did nothing but cover the lost museum relics as we invaded Afghanistan.  Recently I was subjected to them at the gym to watch 3 hours of the American Nazi movement in response the the Prince Harry fiasco, to convince us how the French reaction wasn’t over the top, & infact Naziism in America is a far more real & dangerous foe than terrorists flying planes into the world trade center, because at least they hated all americans equally & didn’t hang out in garages playing angry music with ACTUAL RACIAL EPITHETS for lyrics (shock, gasp, the horror! surely not! NAZIS use racial ephithets?  now that’s newsworthy)…

All while Iraq’s 1st election is happening…nuff said

  9. Gronker, I was with you up to this point:

But the network itself, as a whole, comes alot closer to “just reporting the facts
