Must. See. “Kung Fu Hustle.”

Glee! The folks that brought us Shaolin Soccer are at it again!

Stephen Chow is back with a new action/comedy called Kung Fu Hustle and it’s looking funny as hell. It was China’s top grossing movie for 2004, highest opening movie ever in Hong Kong, and set records in Taiwan according to the official website and if it’s half as good as what Shaolin Soccer was then we’re in for a treat. It looks like there’s some parodying of various American films as part of the trailer looks like a cross between the gang fight of Gangs of New York and the Burly Brawl scene from The Matrix: Reloaded. It’s scheduled to hit American theaters on March 18th.

  1. OMG!  Well, that’s what I would say if I weren’t an atheist.  wink  But I can’t wait, the trailer looks awesome!!

I just got Shaolin Soccer on DVD (having seen the long version in theaters last year)—SS was my #6 favorite film of 2004.  Wheeeeee!  Yayyyyy!  Clapping hands and jumping around with glee!

  2. I have a pal in Malaysia who mentioned this movie to me a couple of weeks ago.  He said it’s good, but not quite as good as Shaolin Soccer.  So, it’s likelt that if you liked SS then you’ll like this one.  I’m looking forward to it, too.

  3. I really enjoyed Shaolin Soccer, so if this is anything like that great movie, I’ll be the first lining up to see it. Unfortunately it’s unlikely to ever see a cinema release here in Australia outside of the capital cities.

  4. I just saw this in Hong Kong and I can attest to its greatness.  I actually enjoyed it slightly more than Shaolin Soccer, which I loved.  Stephen Chow is great as usual in this one.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
