It’s official (finally) Microsoft drops price of their Xbox.

The word went out today from the folks at Microsoft: On Tuesday, March 30th the price of their Xbox game console will drop $30 to $149. Plus the folks at IGN.com are reporting that the prices on several titles have been dropped as well.

Microsoft is also slashing the price on several first-party games. Project Gotham Racing, Crimson Skies, and Counter-Strike see an adjustment to $29.99 each come Tuesday. Voodoo Vince, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and Music Mixer will outdo that cut by dropping down to a mere $19.99 each.

In an effort to make Xbox more accessible to the entire family, Microsoft is expanding its Platinum Hits library to include a Platinum Family Hits branch. The first members are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Finding Nemo, which are now available for $19.99 each.

So if you’ve been holding off on getting an Xbox due to rumors of a pending price cut then you can stop waiting and go save $30.

  1. Seriously, if you haven’t already, get a copy of the Suffering for XBOX. I love it. I know it may not be the greatest game, and the whole survival horror genre has been beaten to death, but this game is fun. This game actually gives me the booboob jeebies, more than i can say for any Resident Evil.

  2. I picked it up for the PS2 (I don’t own an Xbox) and I have to admit it’s pretty cool. I haven’t gotten too far yet so I was holding off on writing a review of it, but what I’ve played so far I’ve really enjoyed.

They weren’t kidding when they rated it M for mature though…

  3. AAARRGGHHH!!

Dammit, we just bought a new (read: replacement) X-box about 3 weeks ago.  Grrrrr….

Damn Microsoft is really pissing me off this year - first they delay the release of “Halo 2” till Fall, and now this?  Sheesh!

If PS2 has any games worth playing, I’d toss the damned Xbox out the window and start from scratch.  But PGR2 is just too much fun to give up….

    *sigh*
