Brian over at Random Ravings (who’s also participating in the ‘thon) helped out with the Burning Questions request by sending me the Pivot Questionnaire that is asked of every guest on Bravo’s Inside The Actor’s Studio. I thought these were pretty neat so I’m going to try answering them.
] What is your favorite word? This one is hard. I don’t know that I have a favorite word so much as favorite phrases. I’m known for saying “not a problem” quite often as a response either to being asked to do a favor or to people thanking me for something I’ve helped them with. It’s almost an automatic response though it’s never said without true feeling behind it. When I say it I do mean it.
] What is your least favorite word? Apparent. Not because of anything about the word itself, but because I almost always misspell it and I use it so often that I should have learned by now that it only has one R in it. I hate that word because I can’t seem to learn how to spell it.
] What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? The possibilities that open up from learning some new way of doing something or acquiring some new toy to play with. For example when I bought the new wireless router the other day I was very wound up and excited about getting it home and hooking it up and then seeing what I could do with it. I had to try out everything I could think of just to see what I could do with it. Same thing happens when I learn something new about, say, web design. I have to sit and play with this new way of doing things until I’ve figured out everything I can possibly apply it to. New possibilities is what turns me on I suppose.
] What turns you off? Paperwork. I’m lousy at managing lots of paperwork and being faced with a lot of it will almost ensure I’ll procrastinate on it.
] What is your favorite curse word? That’d be “fuck.” I don’t have any particular reason for it being my favorite, I just know it is because I use it fairly frequently. More in my speech than in my writing and I try not to use it around folks who have a hard time with it, but it’s certainly lodged firmly in my daily vocabulary.
] What sound or noise do you love? I love the sounds of a summer night. Be it suburb or country, there’s just something about all the sounds in a summer night that really appeals to me.
] What sound or noise do you hate? This one is easy and explains why I could never be a carpenter. Sanding of wood or filing of fingernails has the same effect on me as nails on a chalkboard has for others. I can’t handle being in the same room with a woman who’s filing her nails or a guy who’s sanding down wood.
] What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Actor, but then I’ve always wanted to be an actor. I was just too lazy to move out to California to do it. I’ve done a little acting here and there, but nothing big.
] What profession would you not like to do? Garbage Man. Been to the dump and have a hard time with the smell. Couldn’t do it.
] If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Everybody got it wrong. I wasn’t on anyone’s side and it was never about worship. I was just bored and you people can be damned interesting to watch.
