In its ongoing quest to squelch opposition and stem the flow of free speech the Bush White House tries to ‘Drudge’ up some dirt on ABC News Correspondent Jeffrey Kaufman. In it’s desperation to silence it’s critics the administration is getting almost comical:
Some folks in the White House were apparently hopping mad when ABC News correspondent Jeffrey Kofman did a story on Tuesday’s “World News Tonight” about the plummeting morale of U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq.
So angry, in fact, that the next day, a White House operative alerted cyber-gossip Matt Drudge to the fact that Kofman is not only openly gay, he’s Canadian.
So what does Matt Drudge put up on his website almost immediately?
“ABC NEWS REPORTER WHO FILED TROOP COMPLAINT STORY IS CANADIAN.”
Ta dum, dum. Looks like the homophobic individual who leaked the story didn’t stop to consider the possibility that maybe Matt Drudge couldn’t give two shits about the mans sexual preference. It turns out that even one of the military commanders over in Iraq has a pretty good sense of humor regarding this flap:
Kofman said from Baghdad, where he is covering the 3rd Infantry Division: “This morning I had a meeting with one of the commanding officers and we talked about my report and the response back home. He said he’d read about it on the Drudge Report and had just one question. ‘Is it true that you’re Canadian?’ I just smiled and said, ‘My life is an open book.’ “
Sometimes, rarely mind you, but sometimes I read something that just makes me feel a little better about life.
