Anne, Courtney and I caught the matinee showing of Ice Age yesterday. Story-wise it’s not overly original being another parable on friendship and forgiveness, but it was well executed and had some very funny moments without being too preachy. It’s another entirely computer animated movie and from that aspect alone it’s worth going to see just to be amazed by the near photo-realism they achieved with it. Plus, it has Scratch in it. Who is Scratch? He’s a scrat, a sort of saber-toothed squirrel, and he personifies the concept of persistance against all odds. He has no real part to play in the story, but he keeps showing up throughout the film as he chases after his elusive acorn despite all the problems it causes for him. No matter what tragedy befalls him, he just keeps on trying and I like that about him. Anyway, if you’re looking for something to kill an hour and a half with I’d suggest checking out the film.
