SEB makes the jump to WordPress.

After many hours of work and some 22 export files with an average of 300 entries per file (highest was 500, lowest was 150), I have successfully migrated SEB from ExpressionEngine to WordPress. I will be writing a post about how I did this which will include the templates a I used and details on . . . → Read More: SEB makes the jump to WordPress.

SEB will be changing platforms once again.

I’ve mentioned previously that I was thinking of moving SEB off of ExpressionEngine and onto some other platform, likely WordPress, and now I’ve finally made the decision to do so. Not everyone cares, but for those who are curious as to why I thought I should take a moment and explain.

We’ve been running on . . . → Read More: SEB will be changing platforms once again.

Well that didn’t take long…

First registration on the test install of WordPressMU? A spammer going by the rather obvious name of “onlineinvestments.”

I put the friggin’ link to the test blog in a comment on a thread yesterday evening. Less than 24 hours later they’d found it and registered an account. No spam as near as I can . . . → Read More: Well that didn’t take long…

Testing out WordPressMU.

So I’m playing around with the multi-blog version of WordPress to see how it works out. I had installed just a single copy of the stand-alone WordPress first and that worked just fine, but I’m a little worried about WordPressMU. Not because it’s not working, but because I can’t find where it put the database . . . → Read More: Testing out WordPressMU.

Spammers are now targeting sites with Wikis.

I’ve long ago gotten used to the near-constant comment, trackback, and referrer spamming that comes with running a blog—trackbacks got so bad I turned them off rather than have to clean them up every day—but now there’s two new tactics spammers have been using that are annoying as hell. Or at least they’re new to . . . → Read More: Spammers are now targeting sites with Wikis.

Once again contemplating alternatives to ExpressionEngine.

I’ve said before that I’ve been looking at possible alternatives to ExpressionEngine for running my blogs. Not because I’m overly unhappy with EE, but because I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford to upgrade to EE 2.0 when it is released. Not to mention the amount of time it’s taking for that release to . . . → Read More: Once again contemplating alternatives to ExpressionEngine.

Moving to afternoon shift.

We rotate shifts at work every so often and I’ve managed to go over a year without working the afternoon (4PM – 12:30AM) shift. The boss thought it was about time I took a turn on it and so I arranged to take day classes next semester and spent this past weekend shifting my sleep . . . → Read More: Moving to afternoon shift.

Took a break from blogging/twitter this weekend.

Last week was, to put it mildly, hectic a good part of the time and I didn’t manage to get much blogging in. Then the weekend came and I decided to just take a break from trying to blog and twitter at all. I ended up watching quite a few movies on the TV instead . . . → Read More: Took a break from blogging/twitter this weekend.

And this is a wrap for this year’s Blogathon! (#Blogathon)

It’s now 9AM EDT and not a moment too soon. I’ve somehow managed to claw my way through my third Blogathon and we managed to pick up a few more sponsors during the night. All told we raised $268.63 for the Humane Society of Huron Valley and I’d like to thank each and every one . . . → Read More: And this is a wrap for this year’s Blogathon! (#Blogathon)

SEB’s RSS feeds are working again.

I’m going to cheat a little with this half-hour’s entry as it’s a technical note. SEB regular Decrepit Old Fool noticed that our RSS feeds hadn’t updated since I posted the entry announcing that I was firing up the SEB channel on Ustream.TV. That was over 12 hours ago. Seems the RSS 2.0 and Atom . . . → Read More: SEB’s RSS feeds are working again.
