What is Stupid Evil Bastard?
It’s a personal blog maintained by Les Jenkins that is his small spot on the World Wide Web to spout off on whatever topics he feels like at the time. By and large this means there’s lots of entries on computing, science, politics, religion, video games, television, movies, stupid people, scams, myths, and whatever else happens to catch his attention.
In addition to Les’ entries, SEB also allows for regulars who have registered to contribute Guest Entries for consideration. There are no hard and fast rules on what can be submitted as a guest entry and the primary requirement be that it hold some interest for the folks who visit daily. The easiest way to get him to reject an entry is intellectual dishonesty or incoherence - though he may just post it anyway, with some scathing or ridiculing comments of his own.
The title of the blog is a reference to how Les would often feel the world views him after he got done reading a newspaper. It seemed the world thought he was Stupid enough to believe the nonsense it was pushing on him. Felt he was Evil because he’s an atheist and plays video games. And he’s a Bastard because he has the audacity to speak his mind.
SEB was launched on December 2, 2001. As of this writing it contains almost 4,000 entries and over 40,000 comments.
