The Demon-Haunted World, by Carl Sagan
The ‘Cosmos’ guy passionately argues for a humanistic and scientific world-view as the only hope for the human race.  Using his own desire to believe in the supernatural as a springboard, Sagan tackles pseudoscience, religion, the afterlife, and scientific ignorance in general.  Sagan laments the loss of curiosity, enthusiasm, and intrigue that occurs between grade school and high school, and proposes incorporating a “Baloney Detection Kit” into the education of every child.  Beautifully written, an excellent introduction to humanism and skeptical thinking - 5 stars.  (entry by DOF)

I Am Spock, by Leonard Nimoy
The legendary actor/director Leonard Nimoy describes his long time relationship with his alter-ego Spock. This book is a great read not only for those who love Star Trek or science fiction, but anyone interested in the tv/movie biz! Mr Nimoy reminisces on a career spanning several decades from his early struggles trying to make ends meet working bit parts to his successes as a director. The book is peppered with conversations between Nimoy and his favorite character Spock in a somewhat schizoid evaluation of his thoughts as his career progressed. Fascinating!  (entry by Spocko)
