I’m growing antsy waiting to see what MT 3.0 is going to be like so I’ve been combing the net to see what other blogging tools are out there. Ended up stopping by the Drupal.org site and I keep wondering if it’s as hard to work with as it sounds.
Anyone worked with Drupal on their site? Opinions? Comments?

It’s not that hard.
What is hard is that it is VERY extensive, lots of modules and lots of flexibility.
Depending on what you want, it will be either piece of cake - or hard work.
Some of the real strenghts of this system are a little hard to grasp. The taxonomy system is a much more flexible and powerful category system than most other systems have, and it is though out by some of the leading Information Architects in the world. So there may be a little studying to be done.
Drupal keeps getting better - not just larger.
In a few weeks you’ll have a totally reworked templating system to play around with.
I recommend Drupal, especially if you like to play around with systems administration, or if you can code PHP.
If you only want a blog - stay with blogger.
I thought that MT was the hard stuff out there. It never worked for me…..

When I first started playing around with MT the only aspect that seemed difficult at first was the templating system. Once I got my head around how to use the tags, which didn’t take as long as I thought it would, it pretty much fell into place. I also hadn’t tried to design websites using CSS prior to using MT either and now I have a hard time not using CSS.
By comparison, I never got my head around the templating system in PHPNuke which I used previously for an anime website I used to run.

Yep, I use Drupal at my site (http://www.bmannconsulting.com). I also made all my friends use it as well, because it allows federated identity—you can sign in with a member account on any other Drupal site with your “home” account.
It’s very easy to setup, it’s the fiddling around with the admin settings and various options that takes getting used to.

I appreciate your guy’s feedback. I’m going to have to take some time to play with it some more I suppose. It sounds like it might be overkill for running a blog with, but I won’t know until I try.
