I would be more scared that the TORQUE director is running the show than having Hayden act in it. Shit what am I saying, both are equally as bad. I’m calling this movie a bust before it ever gets off the ground.

I’ll be honest and admit I’ve never read NEUROMANCER and my rudimentary attempts to try and understand the plot have only confused me. But it seems very much a precursor to the Matrix with the book even referring to “the matrix.”

It’s a great book, but it is a little dated, and I think most people are just going to chalk a movie up as being an attempt to copy “The Matrix”.  Shame too, since Neuromancer is 100 million times better than the Matrix. 

In any event, bad lead, bad director, reminds me of the fictional movie in “How to Make Love, the Bruce Campbell Way” - doomed from the beginning.

They’re getting Joseph Kahn to direct?  What’s the matter, Uwe Boll isn’t available?

In the span of a minute I went from elation straight to pure dark pessimism.  That’s a serious bummer because Gibson’s novels were a cornerstone of my early reading.  There is so much potential in his novels it’s a disservice to his novels and vision to have someone directing that can’t bring those novels to life.  Ah well, the books are still good.

Yeah, and very soon it will also share the infamy of being a movie with a very bad actor as the lead.

I liked the Matrix. It’s what it is, an action movie.

Keanu Reeves fronts his own band, at least he did a few years ago. He toured the UK. Now here’s the rub. KR=Major Hollywood A lister. Band=Just another garage band. So they didn’t get the big gigs, but they didn’t do the ‘room over pub’ gigs either.  They seemed to do the same circuit as national TV comedians on tour with new material do, i.e. local town halls, Civic Centres etc.  Our local paper, which is the normal “New Houses Shock” rag ran quite a pithy, almost world weary, piece for a local rag.  “Keanu looked up, they screamed, Keanu looked down, they screamed...”

I too liked the Matrix.  Even its impossibilities and conceptual blunders have Biblical gravitas, and it has at least as many eminently quotable one-liners as Casablanca.  I commented on the parallels between the Matrix and the creationist worldview at the end of this entertaining thread.
