I think that’s probably right.  I suspect that a large number of Christians would probably be a bit (or more) uncomfortable with Wiccans living next door—until they got to know them as not much different from their other neighbors.  It is, as DOF notes, a “noisy minority” who are so quick to act on their fear of the unknown, their misinformation, or their bigotry.

I would sincerely like to see at least one proselytizer answer even a few of the questions. It is ever so much easier for them to walk away in frustration and comdemnation than to actually think about these things and have an honest and intelligent discourse. If they happen to know that I am atheist they let themselves off the hook by stating that nothing they could ever say would sway me. Though that is true, I would respect them more if they even attempted.

We see that response all the time around here. The “Relevator” being the most recent example. Honestly, I’m open to being swayed by a good argument. I’ve changed my position on several issues after being presented with good arguments and I fully admit that I don’t have the answers to everything.

The problem is that there’s very little attempt at providing a good argument as much as there is appeals to emotion, authority, popularity or any number of combinations of fallacies. It seems like it’s the same tired arguments time after time with little to no effort spent trying to refute the challenges brought up against them.

I read that as saying that even if you are lying to exalt the glory of God, you’re still sinning. Lying to boost God is a no-no. You still get punished.
