It would seem that no idea is too outrageous for Microsoft to consider when in pursuit of customers for their MSN Internet service. At least if this story on MSNBC.com is true.

May 2— How far will MSN go to get new subscribers? Apparently to the portable potty at your local summer concert or festival. MSN UK is creating what Microsoft calls the world’s first Internet Loo, or iLoo, complete with flat-screen plasma display, wireless keyboard and broadband access. MSN UK spokesman Matthew Whittingham described the portable toilet as the first http://WWW.C, referring to W.C., or water closet.

“This is another demonstration of Microsoft moving into new product areas to expand its revenue base,” said IDC analyst Roger Kay.

No shit.

Over on a forum I mod at, we’ve had so many comments on that story...but we all agree: none of us want to use that keyboard. Yugh..!

Then again, Microsoft is associated with sh!tty software by so many professionals, this just carries it to the logical conclusion.

Perhaps their slogan could be: “We’re putting our crappy software where it really belongs!”

Or for the more juvenile among us:
