Looks like Roy’s Rock will have to stay in the closet for the foreseeable future:

Yahoo! News - Supreme Court Rejects Judge’s Ten Commandments Appeal

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a long-disputed bid by Alabama’s top judge to display a monument inscribed with the Ten Commandments at the state judicial building.

Without comment, the high court refused to hear two appeals by Judge Roy Moore, who was suspended after refusing to comply with a federal judge’s order in August to remove the granite monument because it violated constitutional church-state separation.
...
Moore, who has strong support from fundamentalist Christian groups for his championing of public displays of the Ten Commandments, vowed on Monday to continue his struggle in the court of public opinion.

“The United States Supreme Court may turn a deafening ear to the people of Alabama, but they will not be able to avoid the thundering roar that’s going to be heard across this country,” Moore said in a news conference outside Montgomery.

Moore’s supporters also pledged to place the issue on the national agenda.

“The wildfires of California may have just died down, but the Ten Commandments fire will now sweep and engulf this nation,” the Christian Coalition of Alabama said in a statement after the Supreme Court decision.

I would’ve been surprised if the Supreme Court had bothered to take on the case as they’ve been pretty clear about this sort of violation in the past so there’s little question about their feelings on the issue. Also not surprising is the Religious Right’s promise to try and make an issue of it. Hopefully this will convince some of the other cities and states that have been slapping up TC monuments that it would be in their best interests to quit before they find themselves in court as well.

No, they will just ignore the courts and continue to push their religion onto the unwilling. It has been happening for too long to stop now.

THANK YOU SUPREME COURT.  Man, I hope they make the same decision when it comes to the Pledge of Allegiance, but then again it’s not likely they’ll go to that sort of trouble.

Didya see in North Carolina where a city councilman put up a Ten Commandments monument right in front of city hall in the dark of night.  Says he was inspired by Judge Moore.

Guess the guys from the city who removed it the next day were inspired by the Constitution.

Now that’s a welcome bit of good news. Thanks for sharing it, Don.

And always in the dead of night. If they weren’t doing anything wrong they would have no problem doing it in broad daylight. They must think that ‘better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission’ is a commandment.
