The folks down in Clarksdale, Mississippi need to look up the word “everybody” in the dictionary. A story in the Clarksdale Press Register on an upcoming Christmas parade demonstrates their basic lack of understanding:

This year’s parade is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3, beginning at 7 p.m.

“It’s Christmas, and it’s time for the parade,” said Kappi Allen, division manager for the Chamber. “We’re looking for everybody in the community to be a part of it.”

“We’re looking for everything, including walkers, trucks, horses, floats and bands,” she said. “We’d like everybody to come and be a part of the festivities.”

The theme of this year’s parade is “In God We Trust.”

Emphasis added for the Irony Impaired.
