Today’s Stupid Evil Bastard Helpful Safety Tip comes from the fine folks at the Chicago Tribune.

When filling your car up with gasoline always be certain to extinguish any cigarettes before you start. Otherwise you could seriously injure yourself:

A Humboldt Park man died Thursday of burns suffered when his clothes caught fire while he was pumping gas with a lit cigarette.

“[Gerena] was [on fire] from the waist up—he then dropped the gasoline filler hose and the spilled gasoline ignited, engulfing his entire body,“ said Chicago Police spokesman Ozzie Rodriguez.

Remember! Gasoline is flammable and can be easily ignited by something as harmless as even a cigarette! As hard as that may be for some of you to believe, or comprehend, it’s true!
