Basically, it seems our Decider-in-Chief has nominated himself to the SCOTUS.  How did Bush KNOW that his nominees wouldn’t “legislate from the bench”?  He knows this because he’s going to interpret the Constitution for them.

I can’t think of anything to say about this post, Les.  I suppose I could come up with some cute comment with absolutely no content, but that would be a waste of my time and everyone else’s, so I’ll abstain.  If I come up with anything, I’ll let you know.

I’ve been burned more than once before (not here) so I always do that too.  But I’ve never posted anything here before, and the software didn’t give me any feedback (that it didn’t go through), so I didn’t really think anything went wrong.  Luckily, I did it on my laptop, which I usually just close the lid on, so all the text was still on the clipboard.

So hopefully it went through this time.  If not, I saved a copy just in case.

The parades I read plenty about, but I don’t recall any riots. That said the parades seem to go off pretty well so I’m not sure what to say about them…

...other than the obvious joke that the INS folks missed a perfect opportunity to round up a lot of illegal immigrants in one fell swoop by not just fencing in the parades and putting everyone on a bus.

I’ve said before that I don’t have a solution to the problem here and I can see arguments for both sides.  About all I can say with any certainty is that I think making illegals along with anyone who “helps” them into felons is a stunningly bad idea that benefits no one outside of the folks who build prisons for a living.

I can see the practicality of amnesty for illegals already living here in part because it’s largely a mess we’ve allowed to develop for quite some time and partly because they are contributing to the economy in their own way, but I also agree that it’s not fair to the folks who are trying to immigrate legally. Then again my mother often taught me that “life isn’t fair, deal with it.“

Honestly it’s a tough pickle with no easy solutions and I don’t have any of my own to offer up on the topic.
