If I close my eyes and think back to the days I spent as a child watching Sesame Street I can almost hear the count cackling in his over the top, Transylvanian accent: “How many years before ALL media has a 100% conservative bias? One, two… hah, ah, ah… three, four. Four more years! Hah, ah, ah, ah...” But maybe that is being too generous, maybe the damage has already been done, this is from the Center for American Progress:
According to a piece in this week’s The New Yorker titled “Big Bird Flies Right,” the Bush White House has orchestrated a coordinated campaign to push the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) to the right. The administration has used the power of the purse to nudge PBS and NPR to a more conservative agenda, using funding grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as leverage. And it seems to be working.
What? They aren’t satisfied with 98% of the Talk radio dial? Not enough FOX, CNN, or bought-and-paid-for conservative pundits on T.V. willing to spread disinformation? Will they not be happy until Big Bird goes on a rant telling all of the children on Sesame Street that pyramids of naked Iraqi men posed in sexually degrading and suggestive positions are no worse than a college prank? Good idea though for the administration to destroy any possible avenue where those pesky inconvenient truths might sneak out, if you watch or listen to it you will slowly be brainwashed and if you don’t then you are just as uninformed of events as the average FOX viewer or Limbaugh fan. Keep them in the dark and feed them shit, grow my little neo-conservative mushrooms...GROW!!!
Long-time PBS host Bill Moyers criticized the conservative push, saying, “This is the first time in my thirty-two years in public broadcasting that CBP has ordered up programs for ideological instead of journalistic reasons.”
I used to think that Bush was destroying education by accident, he isn’t bright I reasoned, nobody would want to sabotage Americas youth by providing them a substandard education. But now thay are co-opting the public airwaves and bending them to their own political will, and like the war they are waging in Iraq, they are doing it in my name - with my tax money. I am beginning to believe this is all part of the Bush agenda to create a pliant, ignorant, poorly paid American workforce.
‘Compassionate conservatives’ don’t want to win anyones hearts and minds… they only want to break them.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to make their own right leaning version of PBS?I mean I never really thought PBS was THAT left leaning anyway. It was a palce to watch good programing.
