They do have experimental blog posting which you can use if EE supports XML-RPC (which it probably does).  It posts the day’s links as a single blog post, but is still experimental.

As for submitting links, delicious has a lovely API and maybe there’s a plugin for using it.

(I’m a power del.icio.us user and am subscribed to the mailing list, so maybe I can cook up some PHP code, though I’m not familiar with EE).

XML-RPC? Or MetaWeblog? I saw the submit an entry to your blog feature and I’ll look into what it needs and how it does it. The API does allow for the submission of links, but it appears it doesn’t handle the passing of the login info which would mean I’d still have to hand it out to whomever wanted to be able to contribute.

There’s no existing plugins for EE that work with del.icio.us, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make one.

So, um, no other suggestions or comments from anyone else, eh? Hmmm.

When we post, how conservative should we be with our tags? I tend to be very conservative; I don’t wanna create a tag I know I’m never gonna use again.

Don’t forget that we need a method to make sure the same link isn’t posted twice. Shouldn’t be too hard.  (Or will it be?)

I dont normally develope web stuff but there should be a PHP MySQL library. You can put the posted links into a MySQL DB and then every time someone tries to post a link run it against the MySQL DB.

I believe The Bo$$’s idea was that SEB regulars would be given the login info for the SEB del.icio.us account and allowed to add to it. It’s basically a remote bookmark tool with tagging support. I’ll be able to import the bookmarks into SEB as a series of posts at the end of each day or as a linklist on a separate page. The idea is to use it for important links (such as the James Randi Educational Foundation) or for items of interest that don’t warrant a full-blown entry. That sort of thing.

Nah, that’s Les’ job (though I do know a fair bit of XHTML/CSS/PHP/JavaScript). I just post entries/comments and lurk around these parts. Don’t let my name fool you, I’m not the boss of anything. If you knew my real name you’d know why I don’t use it.

Cool. I do C, Java, and PERL. However I ahte doing web stuff. I like low level networking/encryption and other sort of comp sci problems.
