The big move.

Today we start moving in with Anne’s parents for the next several months. Doing mostly boxes today in the car, but will be picking up a Uhaul tomorrow to move the big stuff like beds and desks and such. Of course the fact that we’re moving in December of this year means we have around two feet of snow outside as opposed to the last 7 years we’ve lived here when around this time it was still 60 degrees on average. I need to get a hold of a couple of friends and see if they’re available to help me with the heavier stuff, but beyond that we’re going to take it slowly. We’re moving enough stuff in the next day or so to allow us to start living at the new location and then Anne will be coming out to the apartment during the following week while I’m at work to pack up the remaining stuff and haul it over. I’ll be stopping by on my way home from work to do my part. Hopefully we’ll be all done by Friday. Today we’re dismantling the computers so they can be packed up and moved over this morning to remove them as a distraction. They’ll probably be back up and running sometime Sunday evening. So here’s hoping this only lasts a few months before we drive ourselves and the in-laws crazy.

Moving sucks at the best of times.

Good luck—and be *safe*.  The last thing you need right now is an accident while carrying heavy boxes around ...

Ditto what everybody else said.
I guess I should quit complaining about having to clear off one table in the study so’s I can sign and address Christmas cards.

I just finished moving this weekend. I had movers carry all the heavy furniture up the stairs, and had family help with the smaller things. Still...gah.

If you have them and they don’t make you ill, take an Aleve each night before going to bed. You’ll wake up less sore the next morning (and not stiffened up).

Best of luck to you and your immediate family, including Melvin. Hope to hear that you’re all moving into your own place (house or apartment) soon!
