Sat down this morning and sent out emails to every contract house I’ve heard from in the past three and a half months—including the one I used to work for—letting them know that I’m still available and eager for work. I’ve not had a phone call in almost three weeks now and checking the job boards on Monday showed a whopping two new postings since the previous week. Yikes. Already heard back from one of the contract houses saying that they’re still looking and will contact me as soon as they have something, which is a good thing.
Speaking of my former contract house, my buddy Bob, who’s still employed by them, told me the other day that the company just had a big celebration of their 20th anniversary and announced they were buying everyone in the company an Apple iPod Mini. Naturally, I’m not considered an employee at the moment. Well, shit. Not that an iPod is anything I’ve been lusting over for a long time, but I’d certainly take one for free. Oh well. Maybe I’ll win the lottery this week and then I can buy myself a whole slew of iPods and then just roll around on them because I can.

I’ve been there. It sucks. It absolutely sucks.
Have you thought of finding some part-time job, just to have a job? It’s stupid, but I’ve found that it’s easier for me to get interviews when I’m employed (even for 20 hours a week) than when I’m not.
