Spammers stoop to new lows

Man, there just isn’t any form of deception these assholes won’t employ to get you to come by their websites. I just got one today which had the subject line: OSAMA BIN LADEN CAUGHT! The message body basically says the news is on CNN (which it isn’t) and the person sending you the email has loads of pics with video to follow soon at a URL that’s an IP address as (opposed to text) in a subfolder named “pics” so you don’t have an reason to suspect it’s spam (which it is).

I checked with CNN first and then my curiosity got the better of me and I checked the link. Yep, it’s spam. Don’t recall what it was for as I didn’t stick around long, but I it makes me wonder who the fuck is dumb enough to buy shit from these people after being so blatantly lied to to get them to come to the website. Seriously, if they’re willing to engage in that kind of deception just to get you to visit the site then what else are they lying to you about? How can you trust any of the claims they make? Why would you give them any money at all?

All you need is 1 in 10,000 to actually buy something from them for it to be profitable. And as you may have read about the spammer who made more than a $1million but had his Porsche Boxster S seized by AOL after it sued them for sending spam.

I’m not surprised. I’ll double check my system to be sure it didn’t make it through, but I was using Foxfire and my virus scanner is up to date so I’m not too worried about it having made it’s way through.
