So I’m dicking around with Stumble Upon…

.. and I still have no idea what the fuck I’m doing. To be totally honest I’m not entirely sure I even know what Stumble Upon is other than some sort of social bookmarking/site reviewing/thing. I know SEB regular Spocko uses it and our referrer logs are always filled with tons of links from Stumble Upon in general and various Stumble Upon users so I thought I’d sit down and try and make heads or tails of it. Which, so far, I’ve managed to completely fail to do.

It must be a sign that I’m getting old.

Anyway a few folks have figured out already that I signed up and have linked to me as a friend and I’ve managed to link to Spocko as a friend and they’ve even left me nice welcoming messages in my inbox which I can’t figure out how to reply to. I’ve also installed the Stumble Upon Firefox extension and I’ve at least managed to figure out that I can show that I like or dislike a page I’m at by clicking the little thumbs up or thumbs down button. Also if I hit the STUMBLE button it throws a random website up based on the topics I said I had an interest in. I haven’t played around with the remaining buttons to figure out what the hell they do.

So if you happen to be a Stumble Upon user and want to see my SU page you’ll find it here. Oh and I did take the Jung Personality Test while I was there for the profile. Here’s the result of that:

ENTP - “Inventor”. Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. 3.2% of the total population.
Free Jung Personality Test (similar to Myers-Briggs/MBTI)

I’m pretty sure I’ve taken that personality test previously, but it’s been ages. It was interesting to see I scored the same as I did the last time I took it.

Les, thanks for the StumbleVideo site.
I found the Vegan talk in the health section to be extremely interesting (and entertaining) cos I want to lose at least 50 pounds before xmas
I reckon by payday, 1st March, I’ll be near enough to the 100 kilos and it’s gonna be all healthy living from then.
I’m getting too lazy to carry the excess around.

I’ve discovered that it all boils down to brain wiring: your brain is wired to worship magic or it isn’t, either it’s wired to utilize logic or it isn’t, either it’s analytical of myths or it isn’t.

In the inbox you should be able to click the ‘Reply’ right next to the date that you received the message. I do not care for the way they handle the messages either…

BTW you just picked the wrong time to get the extension! They just updated it like a week ago.. it used to have about half the buttons!

Enjoy!

Hey, they left out “Evil” before Mastermind...makes me feel like a Bond bad-guy.

I also ended up being INTJ (mastermind), thought I didn’t think of the 007 connection until you mentioned it, DaBroad.  Hmmmm...perhaps we should join forces...?

Kit, I managed to finally see the Reply link and now I feel stupid for not noticing it the first time around. grin

I have to admit the Stumble Video is fascinating. I spent about an hour and a half last night going through the Bizarre category watching all manner of truly odd video clips from Google Video and YouTube.

Then I happened upon the Rubber Johnny video which I somehow missed seeing when it was released in 2005 and I found myself mildly disturbed by it yet I kept watching it repeatedly.

Welcome to SU!  I’ll add you as a friend when I get home.  Here’s my page.  I’m not nearly as active as I used to be now that I’m not at school and bored off my ass.  I’ve been using it for years and I’ve found tons of great sites.  If you start finding users whose Stumbles you really dig, add them to your friends so you will get their Stumbles.  Keep rating sites, adding interests, and such and you’ll really start getting some great links.

Hey, we’re the same personality type!  I used to be an INFP, but the last few years I’ve really been trying to be more of an E person.  The last time I took it I finally got ENFP.

I’m surprised how accurate that was even though I rushed through the questions. I HAVE to always find the truth which sometimes annoys my friends because I work out my [and their] mental processes out loud to come to an understanding about why a mistake was made or why they think the way they do.

A builder of systems… I’m an IT major with a minor in CS… So I love building networks and writing programs.
