Got the following missive today:

From: Angel Eyes
Subject: Oh my….. and you wonder why the world is in this kind of shape!

I would never donate to your site….. talk about a scam!! What do you do with the money??? So you don’t believe in a heaven or hell or God!  When you die I promise you will believe in it then…when you look into the eyes of your maker and get sent to hell to burn.  FOREVER!! How can you not believe in God, do you have children Mr. Les??? Look at that miracle… I promise no man could have ever started life in the beginning! Think about it….  How did man first get put on this earth.  Don’t say evolution because how did a monkey get here? I mean HELLO during caveman times the wheel was a big deal so you actually think something else could have created man!  There must be a greater power.  Are you serious or just stupid.  Now grant it I am not a holy roller and I totally believe that the prayer rug with “Saint Matthew’s” is a scam, but God is not a scam and people that start scams like the prayer rug will be held accountable for their actions.  So think about it Mr. Les.  God bless you.  Feel free to reply… I’m not afraid. Thanks… that’s all I have to say!  Also, if you have children will be held accountable for the lives.  Do you actually want them to be sent to Hell? To burn for eternity??

And here’s my reply:

Angel Eyes, Thanks for the email. It’ll make a great blog entry in my SEB Mailbag series of notes from nutcases. I appreciate you providing me with more fodder for my readers! Cheers! Les

Who created the Creator?  Jeez.  He doesn’t need to be created, by definition.  Next question.

Rob still doesn’t get it…

Who created that well understood process.

As I said before, no one created that well understood process.

And what do we evolve into next. How have we not stopped evolving.

We won’t know what we’ll evolve into next until we get there. As to how we’ve not stopped evolving, that should be obvious: there’s been no reason for use to have stopped.

In the battle of Armageddon the nations of the earth are gathered for battle and surround the camp of God’s people but there is no actual battle because fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

Way to go Angle Eyes for standing up for GOD i am with you 100% but you see our battle is already won so just spread GOD`s and don`t worry about what other`s say. You have planted the seed and If you plant the seed on good ground it will grow but if it fall`s on rock`s they will die out. GOD Bless you all. Thanks and have a great day.

I have to say that I BOIL IN RAGE when someone spells my name wrong. Just so you all notice about it later.

So, this is all I have to argue because no one has actually said how WE GOT HERE!  IT JUST HAPPENED, I FORGOT!  Goodbye all!

Long story short:

1.- Big Bang
2.- Formation of Stars
3.- Formation of the Solar System
4.- Formation of Earth, together with the Solar System.
5.- Creation of complex molecules
6.- Eventual and slow creation of the first cell
6.- Evolution
7.- Apes
8.- Evolution
9.- Humans

And it will carry on.

We have a report of an alleged seed planting. There is no cause for alarm, but everybody please proceed to the decontamination and irradiation chamber.

10. Humans create god(s).

And I totally laughed my ass off at “It’s creators all the way up.“

Who created that well understood process.

NO. One.  The same “who” that created the process whereby a rock released from the Golden Gate bridge will then fall into the water.

It doesn’t seem to be so very well-understood after all, huh?

And what do we evolve into next.

Something that has a better survival rate than the previous model. Maybe something that is resistant to cataracts (caused by substantially less Ozone than in the past), or cancer caused by general pollution. If we’re lucky. Evolution = slow. Humans farking up the planet = mucho rapido.

How have we not stopped evolving.

We haven’t, so your premise is incorrect from the get-go. Anyone who says we have stopped doesn’t understand evolution at all.

And what do we evolve into next.

Actually, an immensely interesting question, not only because we are starting to take over the technical process (though we can’t change the rules of the game, just cheat a little).

I think we will slowly (very slowly) develop away from physically-centred beings to more cerebral ones. Though it will be anybody’s guess whether cybernetics or genetic engineering will overtake the purely biological process or just complement it.

One thing is clear, though: Life still won’t be fair (i.e. those without the genetic disposition to broadband connections and inborn high-def graphics will still find it hard to get laid).

I thought it was Bernard (Bertnard?) Russell.

From what I can tell, Bertrand Russell is indeed the originator of the “It’s Turtles, all the way down” quote.  I read it myself in “Why I am Not A Christian” which is a compilation of some of his works.  Apparently it was said by a little old woman who was absolutely sure the earth was flat and sat on the back of a turtle, and when asked what the turtle sat on, she replied with the “Turtles all the way down”.

I assumed LH was referring to the Terry Pratchett when he said PTerry would laugh, since Discworld is on the back of four elephants that are in turn standing on a Giant Turtle (Atun? I don’t remember the name).  However, I think the Turtles all the way down theory only touches on the cosmology of Discworld in a cursory sense because I’m pretty sure the Discworld Turtle is said to be swimming through space, approaching some other great turtle in order to mate with it (again, I could have this mixed up with something else, my apologies - Please somebody correct me if I am wrong, I’m begging you!)

Short Intermission while we are waiting for Richard to respond to Elwed.

Tonight there was a (usually awful) tv show i zapped into by chance. They showed a story about an 7 year old boy from Brookehaven, Mississippi called Samuel. He toured the US accompanied by his father in a camper, finally reaching NYC. There he climbed a wall and began preaching to a crowd of pedestrians about his(!) beliefs, how evolution is wrong, how he could not imagine having derived from an ape. Most of the crowd simply laughed at him.
In a previously taken interview the father was shown telling the tv crew how he found the way to jesus himself. He used to be a “real rebel”, drinking alcohol, abusing drugs, cheating on his wife and so on. But he found jesus and is now living a better life.
He also talked about the way he is raising his son. How he uses the cane on him whenver the son is being rebellious. So he would learn that rebellion leads to pain.

So this poor piece of kid is nothing but all broken soul, heart, body and mind.
He will never learn what own will is. Nor what education truly means.

You Richard and Brown Eye may not use “bodily” punishment (sorry if i am missing the right word) on your children but you are using the cane on their souls by telling them about god, jesus, purgatory, hell, heaven and the devil before letting them grow up to a point where they are able to make decisions based on their own will and choose a religion by themselfs, if they ever want to.

I hope my children will be able to not hear the words god or jesus before they are truly grown up individuals. And i will do my very best to make this happen as fast as possible.

Religious freedom, that is what i was told in school is what your country is founded on, is also having the right to NOT want to choose a religion.

So stop spreading your seed, let people find your blossom if they decide to look for it.

Angry, still, very angry still

To me at first there was no obvious need for writing those words together. But maybe you just translated the formulas of Einstein (or whoever worked latest on this subject) into a way that it is becoming audible, pronouncebable and most important anouncable.

Sorry I am so late to the converstaion… but I must post one of my favorite bible verses:

‘Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.‘ Numbers 31:17-18

What a great and loving god!

give me hell, less people wanting to ‘save me’ there.
