Sarah Palin is dumber than a box of rocks.

I’ve tried to be nice and just point out that she’s a liar, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to avoid mentioning the fact that Sarah Palin has brains made out of Cheez Whiz. The most damning examples of which keep coming from her interview with Katie Couric. Couric described the interview as “interesting” and said that Palin “isn’t always responsive”, which is putting it mildly after you see Palin blithering away in the following video clip:

“But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, Um, helping, oh, it’s got to be about job creation, too, Shoring up our economy, and putting it back on the right track, so health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions, and tax relief for Americans, and trade…we have got to see trade as opportunity, not as, uh, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs created in the trade sector today.“

That’s some painful stupid happening right there. She’s tried to take a question on her opinion about the huge bailout Congress is trying to pass and turns into a mish-mash of Republican talking points that don’t have a damned thing to do with the question she was asked. I’d love to see her explain how the bailout helps with health care reform and reducing taxes and trade. She’s literally babbling in that clip. It’s stunning in its vapidness.

Found via BD who says they finally found someone dumber than George Bush. Amazing, but seemingly so.

I get a little stupider every time I watch one of the Palin clips.  The Russia one is just as terrible:  http://blog.macleans.ca/2008/09/25/sarah-palin-discusses-russia-canada/

As a fun exercise, compare either Palin interview answer with this gem, which I’m sure we all remember:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

Not much difference!

The Russia one hurts me inside. She actually thinks that looking at a country give you foreign policy experience. I lived in Ireland for 3 months and according to her, that means I can be vice president.

As I pointed out at DoF place, she has a list of standard answers, each to be triggered by a key phrase.  This is standard exam or job interview stuff, so you don’t have to think too much when answering questions.  Of course the trick is to RELATE THE ANSWER TO THE FUCKING QUESTION YOU CREATIONIST MISANTHROPE.

Whoa, usually i understand spoken English almost perfectly, yet she just made me feel like I didn’t get it at all.

Listening to her actually made me more stupid for a while…

Sarah Palin only brings the religious right to the table. She has proven time and time again that she is not qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America.

She still thinks Iraq was behind 9/11. To paraphrase, she claimed that her son who is deploying to Iraq was going to get those responsible for bringing death to our shores. This lie isn’t even being used by GWB or his administration anymore.

I can’t wait for the VP debates, but it looks like those might be canceled.

Why do we expect politicians to be experts on the processes?  Surely what you want is a leader who knows how to get the advice, and has an open receptive mind, able to weigh the facts.

If you want a leader to be an expert on foriegn affairs , bote for a diplomat.  If you want an economist, there are a number out there.

A leader of any organisation is the one that says “This is where I want us to be” and then go and find out how to be there.

This is the arguement against Palin, more specifically her creationism.  It has been said that that is just an attack by the Liberals.  No, its not that I disagee with her religeon, but who wants a leader who will dismiss all evidence out of hand, if it doesn’t fit in with her beliefs.

“President Palin, there is an giant asteroid heading for earth.  He can deflect it if we do x y and z.“
“No, because the bible is clear that the Earth will not be destroyed this way”

Like bank CEO’s- the problem isn’t that they don’t know what their workers do, its that they do not make informed choices, as opposed to France.

I don’t expect them to be experts, but I do expect them to be able to give a straight answer without resorting to Talking Points Mumbo Jumbo hand waving, which is what Palin did here.

I agree with you Les.  No excuses for this perfomance.  What she should have said was this needs to be looked at closely, with a clear cause and effect for the money, and throw in the stuff people want to hear- no money for CEO, make sure it gets to the little man, no disadvantage to the taxpayer, yadda yadda yadda as you colonials say.  This performance was just embarrasing.

Yes, but is she dumber that Joe Biden?  What with his touching story of how Roosevelt went on TV after the great depression and addressed the county (um…Hoover was president and there was no TV) and his asking a paraplegic to stand up so people could see him.  I think not…

Yep, gaffes both, Nicole.  The difference is that Biden, IIRC, ‘fessed up to them as mistakes.  Dominionists like Palin are never wrong.  She still keeps insisting that she turned down the earmarks, that she’s an expert on Russian policy, that she and her family deserved the per diems, that she wasn’t influenced by $25K+ in gifts, that John McCain is a maverick and a deregulator, blahblahblah.

If you want people who are always right, have my mother adopt you.

Nice try Nicole, but we are talking airless-void lack of knowledge and trying-to-skirt-the-question-while-blabbing-unconnected-bullet-points here.

Not getting two names of presidents wrong and forgetting for a sec that some local dignitary which you likely never even met before is a paraplegic.

But of course, distinction was never a Republican’s strong suit. It’s all black and white - until they are caught in the act, when they suddenly insist that it’s all grey.

I thought that’s when they insist it’s a personal family issue that we shouldn’t pry into.

No, no, Webs! You got that wrong. Let me explain: All politicans lie, it comes with the business - it’s just that McCain lies because he’s such a honest, passionate maverick, while Obama lies because he wants to deceive Americans!

Roosevelt went on TV after the great depression and addressed the county (um…Hoover was president and there was no TV)

Um…are you misquoting this Nicole?

From Encyclopedia Britannica:

Great Depression - worldwide economic downturn that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939.

Herbert Hoover - 31st president of the United States (1929–33).

Franklin D. Roosevelt - 32nd president of the United States (1933–45). The only president elected to the office four times, Roosevelt led the United States through two of the greatest crises of the 20th century: the Great Depression and World War II.

Television Broadcasting - ...It was not until April 30, 1939, at the opening of the New York World’s Fair, that a public demonstration was made by the National Broadcasting Company [in the US], which announced in that year that it was ready to begin broadcasting for two hours per week. The Columbia Broadcasting System and the Dumont network began telecasting in 1939 and 1940, respectively.

Technically, FDR could have spoken on TV after the Great Depression, he was POTUS until he died in 1945 after all (but I’m pretty sure Biden was referring to a radio broadcast).  Not sure how that compares to “What the heck does the Vice President do anyway?!?“, but I guess you have a valid point that Biden misspoke.

Umm… Palin didn’t actually say anything in that video clip…  It seems as though she was given several buzzwords to say, but not given anything to say in between, and that she isn’t very good at linking those buzzwords.  If Obama loses, Canada will have at least one more resident.

I’m personally glad that Palin is solely responsible for making North Carolina a blue state. I’m extremely happy to see that North Carolina has voted for a Democrat for the first time since Jimmy Carter. I also find it a riot that some people actually want to see “Hurricane” Palin run for President in 2012. If, God forbid, Palin becomes president, she’ll come in wet wild and fun to the neocons, but in the end, she’ll leave this nation in ruins within days.

Aw come on now! I want to see a Palin/Wurzelbacher ticket in ‘12! That would seal Obama’s second term (of course only if she runs on the Republican ticket and doesn’t go on some batshit “Alaska Independence” third party ticket or something like that).

It would be about the same as the Mondale/Ferarro ticket from ‘84, except for ya know the part about them being Democrats.  Anyway, total victory for Obama in ‘12 if Palin runs (for the Republicans). Not that Obama will probably need Palin to run in 2012 to win a second term.
