Rush Limbaugh has gone nuts. Calls for riots at Democratic convention.

I usually don’t pay much attention to Rush Limbaugh because, well, he’s raving lunatic. A point which is driven home by his recent call for riots at the Democratic convention:

“Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don’t elect Democrats,” Limbaugh said during Wednesday’s radio broadcast. He then went on to say that’s the best thing that could happen to the country.

Several callers called in to the radio show to denounce Limbaugh’s comments, when he later stated, “I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver.”

Limbaugh said with massive riots in Denver, which he called part of “Operation Chaos,” the people on the far left would look bad.

“There won’t be riots at our convention,” Limbaugh said of the Republican National Convention. “We don’t riot. We don’t burn our cars. We don’t burn down our houses. We don’t kill our children. We don’t do half the things the American left does.”

He believes electing Democrats will hurt America’s security and economy and appeared to call on his listeners to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“We do, hopefully, the right thing for the sake of this country. We’re the only one in charge of our affairs. We don’t farm out our defense if we elect Democrats ... and riots in Denver, at the Democratic Convention will see to it we don’t elect Democrats. And that’s the best damn thing that can happen to this country, as far as I can think,” Limbaugh said.

Later, Limbaugh downplayed his “dreaming of riots in Denver” statement, and said that he wasn’t calling for riots and was referring to warnings of trouble if superdelegates decide the nomination at the Democratic National Convention.

Apparently Rush is more afraid of the Democrats winning in November than I thought. Perhaps we should start letting him abuse drugs again. He seemed a lot less totally fucking nuts when he was high most of the time.

He’s just a blowhorn for the red. I think the republicans all hold perverted sex conventions at the White House.  Something you’d see in Conan The Barbarian, snakes, mustaches, long hair, and everything else..

Why doesn’t anyone make a complaint to law enforcement? Incitement is illegal, and it would keep the spotlight on the far right.

Yeah, the US doesn’t really know what left is anyway. Coulter and her ilk wouldn’t even know a real socialist when she saw one.

Why doesn’t anyone make a complaint to law enforcement? Incitement is illegal, and it would keep the spotlight on the far right.

Its only illegal when you threaten the POTUS, apparently. Also, they would just call “crybabies, crybabies”.

And lets not be too reactive anyway. One thing I feel many press commentators these days are missing is that its all about Obama and Hillary. Who the hell talks about McCain?

“We don’t riot. We don’t burn our cars. We don’t burn down our houses. We don’t kill our children. We don’t do half the things the American left does.”

No, I guess they don’t.  But they do spend billions of taxpayer dollars to field a disastrous war where they do those things to people in other countries.

Why doesn’t anyone make a complaint to law enforcement? Incitement is illegal, and it would keep the spotlight on the far right.

IF there are riots in Denver, Limbaugh should be arrested for conspiracy charges, maybe even treason.  After all, the two remaining Democratic candidates are US Senators, not exactly a small time position in itself.

I believe the most likely thing to happen will be some idiotic Dittoheads will attempt to start shit themselves in response to their god’s decree. Kinda like all the morons that mobbed the White House back in 2000 when there was a hint that Gore won the election.

I don’t think people are going to get pissed off enough about the Super Delegates to do anything like riot, but a protest that gets attacked by the Police might qualify as a riot in Limbaugh’s diseased mind. I guess compare the protests that got really violent thanks to Police action in Seattle a few years back to say, the Watts riots, or the more recent LA riots, there’s a huge difference in at least scale.

“There won’t be riots at our convention,” Limbaugh said of the Republican National Convention. “We don’t riot.

We just bar any non-conformist from our events and herd the rest into pens out of our sight.

We don’t burn our cars.

We just haul yours to the impound yard.

We don’t burn down our houses.

We build our McMansions to fall apart after we’ve sold it for twice the price and moved out.

We don’t kill our children.

We just poison yours.

We don’t do half the things the American left does.”

And that’s why we’re stuck in two wars and falling into recession.

The talk of riots are evil but the ‘talk’ between the two Democratic candidates will do more harm than any demonstration against the convention.  People are going to get tired of hearing the claims being made and the drawn out arguments these two candidates keep throwing at each other until McCain will reap the benefits of the tired and the undecided voters.  I would hate to see this happen but it is a real possibility.  It is time to shut up and unite or we will have more of the same crap that the last eight years have had.  Also what is this shit about taking a look at Iran?  Do our illustrious leaders want to start another war before they leave office?  Or maybe it is setting the scene for the next leader to carry on or straighten out.  We should unite the Democratic party and use this time being wasted to investigate and fight what is about to transpire.

I am dreaming of my country finally seeing Rush Limbaugh and his band of sociopathic wingers for what they really are: completely antithetical to the spirit of our constitution and a pluralistic society. I am dreaming of them in the dustbin of history.  I am dreaming of our country getting back to the business of “a more perfect union”.

Unfortunately I keep waking up to the right-wing media.  Anyone who thinks mass media leans left just isn’t paying attention.

A quick google on “Federal law riot incitement’ brings up a host of sites commenting on this broadcast (this link is just one), and the fact incitement to commit a crime is illegal. The incitor would not be able to use a defence that no one actually did it. But hey when one US senator calle dfor the murder of Clinton in the 90’s no one did anything.

Quite right, we all know it’s okay to be detained by fellow private citizens exercising their right to protest.  Police who interfere with such matters are facists.

If anyone takes the time to get a free transcript of Rush’s remarks, or takes the time to actually listen to him, you will find the blogs are taking things out of context and don’t understand his humor. HE’S AN ENTERTAINER. He has no army, no minions that follow his directions. He merely comments, in his droll way, on what he sees happening in the world. Anybody who takes “Operation Chaos” seriously is really unaware of what the man is trying to do. Lighten up and listen to the whole conversation sometime.  tongue wink

Leguru, I have listened to Rush.  The problem is that people DO take him seriously, people who vote take his idiotic blathering as if it were The Truth. I hear his talking points repeated all the time in serious conversation by people who should know better.

I’ve listened to him on more than one occasion for as long as I could stomach. I don’t find him particularly amusing. If someone on the left had made a comment like that the right-wingers would be climbing up the walls over it. Not sure I see why we should be any less unhappy about it.

I agree with DOF that Rush has many followers who uncritically swallow whatever he spews up.

By the way, I would have responded to this thread earlier, but as a member of the left in America, I was busy burning down my house.

Oh well, at least I’m not into watching nude boy scout wrestling, like so many Republican Senators and Congressmen.

“There won’t be riots at our convention,” Limbaugh said of the Republican National Convention. “We don’t riot.

Earlier in his statement:

“Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don’t elect Democrats,”

Why the fuck does anyone listen to him? It’s absurd how he gets away with the bullshit hypocrisy.

Besides this it creates a dilemma. On the one hand, listening to Rush causes retardation on about all levels of the brain. So not listening to him or caring about what he says is a good thing.

On the other hand, if we don’t listen to him and ignore him, many morons may jump on his bandwagon and defeating Limbaugh arguments becomes harder as we don’t know what those arguments are.

I think I still prefer the ignore line as it allows me to limit the stupid I clutter my head with.

Can’t you spell, dof?  It’s “stoopid”, stoopid.

And as to whether Limbaugh is serious, or “just” an entertainer, what’s the diff?  Nowadays, if a fact, or a position, ain’t entertaining, it ain’t a fact.

Ok, I live in Minnesota, and work in an office building directly across the street from the Minneapolis Hyatt, which is where the RNC will be headquartered during the convention.  So, I’ll have front row seats for some of the street action.  The convention itself will be across the river in St Paul, but the delegations will be housed in hotels all over the metro area.  I expect to be late to work most days during this shindig.

Actually, I don’t see how it makes sense for riots at the Democratic Convention to be detrimental to the left - the left will be throwing their riots here in Minnesota, protesting the right.  If anyone riots in Denver, it would have to be the righties, protesting the left.  So, go ahead, riot away.
