Rush Limbaugh detained for trying to hide his Viagra use.

Poor put upon Rush Limbaugh. He’s in trouble over his drug use yet again. This time he was detained for three hours at Palm Beach International Airport because of a bottle of Viagra for which he didn’t have a prescription.

Customs officials found a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra in his luggage that didn’t have Limbaugh’s name on it, but that of two doctors, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was “labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes,“ Roy Black, Limbaugh’s attorney, said in a statement.

Privacy purposes? Yeah, I suppose ol’ Rush wouldn’t want it to get around that he has trouble getting the old crane cranked up these days. Someone might imply he’s lost his manhood and he can’t afford to have people thinking he’s not a MAN’s man anymore.

But that’s not the funniest part, though. No, the funniest part is the fact that CBS News goes on to point out what a stunning hypocrite Limbaugh is:

Limbaugh reached a deal last month with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions. Under the deal, the charge, commonly referred to as “doctor shopping,“ would be dismissed after 18 months if he continues to submit to random drug tests and treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

Before his own problems became public, Limbaugh had decried drug use and abuse and mocked President Clinton for saying he had not inhaled when he tried marijuana. He often made the case that drug crimes deserve punishment.

“Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up,“ Limbaugh said on his short-lived television show on Oct. 5, 1995.

Just so you know, Rush, the fact that you’re a hypocrite of amazing proportions is more damning than finding out you use Viagra. Assuming it is actually Viagra in that bottle you had. After all OxyContin comes as a little blue pill too.

If you’ll excuse me I have to go off and laugh myself sick now.

Did he by any chance violate the terms of his deal?

More importantly, though, where did he arrive from and what did he need the cock booster for?

Ahhhh, Viagra. I wonder if Rush is going to come out and admit that he’s “addicted to sex.“ Nah.

You might want to check out PZ Myer’s defence of the Douchebag.  He has a point- while Limbaugh is a hypocrite of the first water, and deserves all kinds of comeuppance, do we want people nailed for carrying legal and harmless drugs?

Pretty damn funny.

I almost want to feel sorry for him, that the facist airport security got a little overzealous and detained him after finding the bottle.  But then I remember he is a Big Fat Idiot, and a Lying Liar.

Oh, come now… surely it is but a small thing that Mr. Limbaugh stand up and release an dram of privacy for the lesser good.  smirk

Semi-seriously, though.  Maybe now Mr. Limbaugh will become a privacy advocate, for our sake if not for his.  If there was anything about another human being that I did not want to know…

What, druggies should have a comic parody of them?  In Britain we have them ‘Sent Down’ to prison instead.  Perhaps thats the root of the drug problem in the US- maybe a 30 second monologue just isn’t a deterrent anymore…

We could end the drug ‘problem’ in this country overnight by making the punishment include listening to Rush Limbaugh.

No!  it would be too cruel, just sadistic.  Shades of Clockwork Orange...

DOF: We could end the drug ‘problem’ in this country overnight by making the punishment include listening to Rush Limbaugh.

I think that would actually increase drug use tenfold. At least in my case it would require getting incredibly stoned in order to tolerate five minutes of Rush’s bloviating.

Rumors were swirling around Capitol Hill and beyond Tuesday that Rush Limbaugh is dating actress Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Chloe O’Brian on the Fox series “24.“

I will now go rub Bactine in my eyes.

Viagra, give me a break, my Dr. gave me some viagra, no prescription, it is a common practise. Of course making fun of someone with a sexual problem is so much fun and adult and responsable. Dipshits.

He can’t have a sexual problem unless he’s currently married and his wife was along for ride. Otherwise, what does he need the power of an upright for? To fornicate or engage in the *gasp* solitary sin?

What Zilch said.  It’s not like there’s any lack of things about Rush to make fun of, and he certainly deserves it.

The bigger issue is, why do we even know about this?  If Rush himself publicized it, then no problem, that is his choice.  But if the authorities disclosed it, it’s a serious breach of his privacy, which could just as easily be anyone’s privacy.  And it has nothing to do with airport security.

Viagra, give me a break, my Dr. gave me some viagra, no prescription, it is a common practise.

Whether it’s common or not doesn’t make it legal. When someone like Rush Limbaugh goes on the record that he thinks people illegally using controlled substances should be tossed in jail and then he ends up being caught illegally using a controlled substance then that makes him a hypocrite. I do believe it was Rush who said:

Too many whites are getting away with drug use. The answer is to ... find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them, and send them up the river.

Sounds like good advice. He’s already been busted for OxyContin use once…

Of course making fun of someone with a sexual problem is so much fun and adult and responsable. Dipshits.

Awwww. Did we upset you by poking fun at one of your idols?

Considering Rush’s past comments implying that Hillary Clinton is really a man in drag or his insistence that the Women’s Lib movement was just a means to get “unattractive women accepted by mainstream society” or his statement that he really does like the Women’s Movement “especially when I’m waling behind it,“ I don’t feel particularly bad if we’ve poked fun at Rush over his inability to get it up.

Again that’s assuming it really was Viagra and not some other little blue pill.

I have no idea what Rush says, I don’t listen to him, but I am deeply disturbed when anyones rights are abused by the authorities. What the hell do pills have to do with airport security to begin with.

What the hell do pills have to do with airport security to begin with.

Nothing, unless Viagra gives Rush a deadly weapon.

Given that he was reported to be detained by Customs on arrival and not a security screener at departure, it looks they were just doing their job. You know, searching for contraband, doing their thing since there’s a war on drugs on and all that jazz? It sucks to be called a criminal just because you broke the law…

James, while I agree with you on the idea that custom agents might be a little fascist in detaining someone for a bottle of Viagra, they not only deserve the right to randomly screen people to check for illegal substances, but also to follow up on people that appear to have broken the law.

Furthermore, the dude that’s already been tagged for other drug charges is pretty much always gonna be in the crosshairs for Customs. The fact that it’s sometimes a legal drug doesn’t change the fact that in this case it wasn’t though. I assume that with the right authorization you can carry around a brick of cocaine, else it would be hard for the DEA to transport stuff for destruction - however it’s not legal for everyone to do so.

Now, as for Mr. Limbaugh’s privacy? He’s a public figure. While the fact that Little Limbaugh isn’t working perfectly is indeed a private matter for Roy and Ray Limbaugh, Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have the same protections for his privacy. He wasn’t even in his home, it happened out in one of the most public places you can find.

Depends on the pills I’d imagine. Considering the various illegal drugs that come in pill form and the fact that more than a few celebrities have been busted (including Rush himself) for illegal drug use there’s really no reason why the authorities should overlook any drugs they come across as being beyond the scope of their security duties.

Heck, if Limplow didn’t want to be searched by Customs, he could have stayed in whatever country he arrived from.

There’s really not much room to argue. He’s a hypocrite, very recently struck a deal with authorities for another case of drug abuse, and has now been found in possesion of prescription medication that hasn’t obviously been issued to him. He may see the inside of a jail yet. Being searched by Customs is not a rights abuse, unless Rush is an accredited diplomat. Suck it up, Rush.

As DOF said, the only issue is who broke the story.
