Right Wing Watch highlights the GodTV “Election Special.”

How freaked out was the Religious Right over this election? Just check out this ten minute highlight from the two hour “election special” on GodTV put together by Right Wing Watch:

These people are fucking nuts. The end-of-the-world rhetoric is just over the top. Alas it looks like they’ve gotten their wishes with regards to the anti-gay marriage amendments. California’s is still too close to call, but it’s looking like it’ll pass. It may be several days before we find out if it passed or not.

Don’t think this crushing blow to their prayers will keep them down. If anything look for the Far Right to become even more shrill and dogmatic in the months to come. Already they’re hyping fears of so-called Christian persecution that’ll come as a result of this election:

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, believes Senator Obama was elected, in large part, because the church in America has failed to address sin in its own ranks and also in society.

Perkins says Christians should pray for and return to a biblical model of holiness and righteousness. And believers in America, he adds, should prepare for persecution.

“We are going to see, I think, unprecedented attacks against our faith through measures like the hate crimes [legislation] to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act,” he says. “We’re going to see attacks on innocent human life through the Freedom of Choice Act, trying to erase all the gains that have been made in the pro-life movement. And I think even our freedoms are going to come under attack.”

The fact that the Democrats have big majorities in both houses and the Presidency is going to whip these nutcases into a frenzy never before seen. On the plus side it’ll mean no shortage of blogging subjects here at SEB.

I think the fundies will revel in their new victim status, all the while lashing out at every move that Obama makes. Shrill cries from bitter people who cling to guns and god.

I’m already having chuckles at some of the comments showing up on the political sites. Dire claims of gloom and doom, that America will plunge into the abyss of socialism. Dogs and cats living together…

Wow, they aren’t even waiting until he’s actually, you know, in office either:

“Americans have made a grave mistake in electing Barack Obama to the presidency,” Fr. Pavone wrote. “He said during the campaign that he does not know when a human being starts to have human rights. How can one govern from that starting point of ignorance? Governing is about protecting human rights; to do it successfully, you have to know where they come from, and when they begin. The President-elect has already failed that test miserably.”

What?  You don’t know something?  AND you didn’t pull a made up answer out of your ass?!?!  How DARE YOU SIR! HOW DARE YOU think you could possibly be qualified to lead this country!!!!??!?!

I will not attack your doctrines nor your creeds if they accord liberty to me. If they hold thought to be dangerous - if they aver that doubt is a crime, then I attack them one and all, because they enslave the minds of men.

And Les, I haven’t been visiting the site a lot lately, but I watch the RSS feed…with that in mind, I got a pretty good scare from that new picture.  Much better than the one you had there a little earlier (where you looked like you just woke up).

well, all I know is that my ‘prayers’ were answered in this election cycle.

You know, the ones where our country is in the hands of smart people, who are not superstitiously deluded.

I have half am mind to attend the craziest of my town’s holy roller churches this sunday for the entertainment value.

Wow!!! The truly sad part is they believe that, every word. BTW, their god is not pro-life: see OT flood, etc. But good gravy was that ever some funny video!! Yet another sad part is they let their religion dictate how they vote (CA prop 8, etc.) & discriminate against people they don’t even know… because of course, heterosexual marriage has just been great (high divorce rate, spousal battery, etc.) Religion isn’t the opiate of the masses but the blinders to actual thought.. Even showing them the glaring inconsistencies and outright errors in their bible doesn’t get through. Its really something they have to question themselves (as I did), otherwise its just a “demon” trying to deceive them! On the funny side, there’ll be more from them that’s humorous as they decide Obama’s the antichrist. (getting down off soapbox, rant over).

Ah, but rationally speaking, isn’t McCain the anti-Christ? Since it was his loosing the election that brought the liberal nut cases that actually think, occassionaly, into power. And wasn’t it Saracudda’s rants that drove those damn anti-christians to the polls in overwhelming numbers? Seems to me that John and Sarah have some answering to do when they appear at the Pearly Gates!  snake

What the F$(*#& is an “Estherfest”?  I think he just made that word up.

Even whether marriage will exist in the years ahead out of what takes place in our elections.

LOL! I’m sure the institution of marriage would just totally disappear overnight if Prop 8 failed to pass.  Next up! Dogs and men getting married!  Who knows, maybe someday it will finally be legal for a man to marry his toaster!

Anyway, shouldn’t they be high-on-crack happy about all this?  I mean, that’s the whole bag of the fundies isn’t it?  The whole world is against us, and it’s all getting worse and the end is near and all that garbage?  They should be so joyful about this that they can’t stop grinning.  Apparently though, their faith in what they preach just isn’t as strong as they would have us believe I guess.
