Not doing much today as I’m fortunate enough to work for a company that gives us a four day weekend for holidays such as the just completed Easter so I was able to sleep in this morning when most folks had to get up and rush off to work. It’s going to be an even shorter week for me as well because I’m taking Friday off as it’s my five year wedding anniversary. It’s a three day work week for me!

Easter was pretty enjoyable considering that we don’t celebrate it as any kind of a religious occasion. Instead it’s a good excuse to get together with family and friends and eat food. This year it was my parents turn to play host to the gathering so we trekked up on Saturday afternoon to stay the night because we haven’t done that in awhile. We made a point of hitting the outlet stores in Birch Run on the way up to get Courtney some new sneakers for her gym class and general wearing around and about as well. On Sunday we were joined by my brother, his wife, and their two kids as well as Dad’s friend Richard for Easter dinner. My sister Cindy couldn’t make the event as she was busy working, but we did get to speak with her briefly on the phone.

While I was up there Mom had me take a look at her upstairs PC which was on the fritz, but responded really well to the turn-it-off-and-then-on-again technique of PC repair. Then we went over some stuff blogging-wise she was having trouble getting her head around. PCs seem to be falling apart all over the place as of late as my wife’s PC is also dead in the water so we’re down to sharing my desktop, which is tricky considering how much she loves playing World of Warcraft. Her PC is made up of hand-me-downs from my old PC when I built my current box some 3 or 4 years ago so it’s getting close to being around 8 years old or so. Considering how much use it’s gotten over those years I’m not entirely surprised it’s giving up the ghost. Fortunately my wife has agreed to let me build a new PC one part at a time and I’ve been slowly ordering one part after each paycheck for a couple of months now. I’ve got a new motherboard and a new graphics card and I only need to get the processor and maybe new RAM before I can start swapping stuff around and make use of my old parts to replace the stuff that’s died in her PC. With any luck she’ll be back up and running on her own box within a month or two at the most as I’m using my laptop to write this entry.

Beyond that it’s been a relatively quiet weekend half of which was spent hanging out with my family and eating food and candy. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to scrounge up some leftovers for breakfast.

I’ve barely eaten anything all weekend - spent the celebration of fertility coding in assembler.

Hope you all had a great holiday smile.

One sure and primary and fundamental fact is the joint existence of a subject and of its world. The one does not exist without the other. I acquire no understanding of myself except as I take account of objects, of the surroundings. I do not think unless I think of things — and there I find myself. - Bruce Lee

Well, that’s appropriate, arc- what are “fertility” and “coding in assembler”, after all, but two different ways of creating and passing on information?

You were born.  And so you’re free.  So happy birthday.

Nah - my girlfriend made a slide out to her family’s and they packed up a large amount of food for me. My father, who lives nearby, did the same. Should last me a week.

Cute, zilch, I didn’t actually think of that.
