O’Reilly doesn’t do well on the Letterman show

Last night O’Reilly was on the Letterman show. The segment started amicably, but when O’Reilly started in on his “War on Christmas shtick” things started going down hill for him. Then O’Reilly shifted topics to the war in Iraq. Well, all I can say is that Letterman was beautiful.

The video clip of the segment is on the first link here.

Man that made my nuts tingle! And 60% is being far too generous. Honest to Christ!

Thanks, Vern for passing that along. It made my night!

Disclaimer: I had a bowl of nuts sitting on the computer desk and every time I smacked the desk in glee they vibrated and tingled.

I had hoped to post something about this while I was at work today, but got too wrapped up in doing, you know, actual work.

I used to watch Letterman regularly, but the past few years or so he’s been less than enthralling. If he keeps handing out smack downs like the one he gave O’Reilly I may end up watching again.

B.O. was also upstaged by the “Daily Show” in the same exact way. It’s a shame the Republicans don’t actually understand enough to even think about what they support. They want “God” in schools, but they don’t actually agree on what “God”. The “Christian God”? Is that the Catholic, Baptist, or Church of God? What about the Methodist?

Hell, they can’t even do math. They believe they are the party of smaller government, less taxes, more growth. Yet the real facts (commerce.gov) don’t support that.

I guess most Republicans, B.O. included, just can’t read AND do math.

BTW: I realize the date. It isn’t an Apr. Fools joke. I actually downloaded the figures from the commerce dept. into a spreadsheet. It’s real

Thanks for the link to the clip.  My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I actually really enjoyed that. Douchebag came off as far less of one in that clip - so while I can relate to him lot more, I still disagree with him. He actually came off having a concise point of view, he wasn’t yelling, he wasn’t screaming, and he wasn’t cutting people’s mics. Good show.

One sure and primary and fundamental fact is the joint existence of a subject and of its world. The one does not exist without the other. I acquire no understanding of myself except as I take account of objects, of the surroundings. I do not think unless I think of things — and there I find myself. - Bruce Lee

I propose a new education program for government: No Republican Left Behind, where basic arithmetic will be taught and concepts like “Borrowed money eventually has to be repaid by somebody” will be hammered in.  With real hammers if necessary.

Have not watched the clip yet - it was in Real Player which is almost as annoying as O’Reilly himself.  But I just found out it is available in Windoze Media Playa’ on billoreilly.com so will watch it later.

he wasn’t yelling, he wasn’t screaming, and he wasn’t cutting people’s mics.

Of course not - it wasn’t his show.  He is such a pinhead on his own show.

Dave totally rocked. I was wondering if he was going to stick it to O’Reilly or not. I like that more Americans got to see what a total shithead O’Reilly is.

OK, I just watched the clip and, speaking as someone who thinks Bill O’Reilly is a total dooche bag and a jerk, he totally mopped the floor with David Letterman.  That hurts.

Letterman said a lot of things I agree with but had no facts, no examples, and he just wasn’t ready.  It was a disappointment.  O’Reilly came off as well-prepared, quite reasonable (even if you disagree with him) and sympathetic.

If you want to see what a total shithead O’Reilly is, you have to watch his show.  That’s where you’ll see all the yelling, the cutting of mics, the name-calling and bullying, the thinly veiled homophobia, demagoguery, and pandering to ignorance that makes the Factor what it is.

I concur.  And that’s one of the things that I like about John Stewart.  I recall more than one ocassion when he asked a guest for sourcing and, when the guest couldn’t remember, provided the guest with the name of the publication, the date, the page number and the headline.

If you’re going to tell someone that 60% of what they say is crap, you should probably be able to come up with some examples.

and “I’m not smart enough to go one on one with you” Gee.  Thanks Mr. Letterman.  Smart has nothing to do with it.  Prepared does.

I was, well, disappointed.
