New version of w.Bloggar now out.

That nifty little off-line editor w.bloggar has been updated to version 3.01 and now includes support for MovableType’s extended entry feature. Another nifty new addition is the ability to have Windows Media Player 9 auto-magically insert info about whatever song you’re currently listening to into your blog entry via the new Blogging-plugin in the new Creativity Fun Pack Microsoft has released for it. Fortunately the blogging plugin is available as a seperate download from the rest of the pack. You can see what it does at the bottom of this entry. If you use WMP9 instead of something else such as Winamp (which I tend to prefer) then this might be a fun little add-on as long as you don’t mind using w.bloggar to do your entries as it’s currently the only tool for MT that supports it. You can also now associate a CSS file with w.bloggar’s preview function so you can get an idea of what things will look like when it hits your website. All-in-all a pretty nifty little program which works pretty well as this entry illustrates. I may start using it more often myself and I’ll definitely be showing Cindy how to use it.

Do you mean you can’t get w.bloggar to work or just the blogging-plugin?

Setting up a new account under w.bloggar can be a little confusing. Basically in the host name you want to put your blog’s URL minus the HTTP part. Then in the page field you want to put the path to your MT installation where the mt-xmlrpc.cgi script is located. Looking at your site you’d put in http://www.gamersnook.com into the Host field and /cgi-bin/mt/mt-xmlrpc.cgi in the page field. Use the same login name and password you use for MT and you should be ready to go.

The plugin itself doesn’t require a lot of setup to get to work. I installed it, launched WMP9 with a song and then clicked on the little musical notes at the bottom of the w.bloggar screen to insert the track info.
