McCain’s campaign manager admits they’re not campaigning on the issues.

In a refreshing, if disheartening, bit of honesty John McCain’s campaign manager said outright that this campaign is not about issues:

Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain‘s presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.

“This election is not about issues,” said Davis. “This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”

Davis added that issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won’t ultimately be conclusive. He added that the campaign has “ultimate faith” in the idea that the more voters get to know McCain and Barack Obama, the better the Republican nominee will do.

Considering that most Americans seem to disagree with the Republican’s stance on most issues it probably shouldn’t come as any surprise that they’ve abandoned all hope of winning an election on matters of substance and are going for the smear and fear tactics that worked so well in the past. Just another indication that a McCain presidency will just bring more of the same bad ideas of the Bush presidency.

Shit gets me so frustrated and dare I say, angry. Its expected that they will run on fears and smears but its frustrating that people actually fall for that shit.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll no doubt say it again.

Americans vote for someone they see as someone they could have as a BBQ buddy.

Even if McCain runs a ‘clean campaign’ with no smears, the message that people will vote on is “Do you want someone like you, or a ‘elitist’ ‘intellectual’”

I have been saying this for the past month. We all know if the republicans tried winning an election rather than personality (ie:“vote for me I’m a great war hero” or “vote for me because i run around calling myself a christian, and if we have me a christian as President then the world will be a better place, because we all know how immoral those ‘non-Christians’ can be) they would loose.
