When the nice IT tech support guy (that would be me) shows up and says he needs to crawl under your desk for just a moment to write the jack numbers down try to realize that he really doesn’t want to crawl under your desk, but he’ll be highly annoyed if you refuse to get your fat ass out of the chair for the minute or so that he needs to do his job. He’ll be even more annoyed when he realizes that you’re not even sitting in your assigned cube, but have decided to monopolize a walk-up unit in order to work on what appears to be an entirely non-critical Excel spreadsheet.
You really don’t want to piss of your IT tech support guy needlessly. Word will spread when he goes back and bitches about it to the rest of the team and, if you pull this crap often enough, the quality of the support you receive will probably decline. Take a break. Stretch your legs. Give him the moment he needs and then you can get back to your urgent spreadsheet.

The cook/your waiter
Your babysitter
Your nurse
Your tech support.
You’re just totally screwing yourself if you do.
