I’m a little over halfway through the fourth book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and I must say my enthusiasm for the series continues to grow. This book is huge for supposedly being a book for children, the hardcover edition I’m reading totaling out to a whopping 734 pages. Not that you notice as it grabs you by your lapels and drags you into it’s story. I’ve put about 2 days worth of casual reading into it so far and I’m on page 480 leaving just a scant 254 pages to go. With all the trouble they had pruning the first book down to make a reasonable movie out of it I’m beginning to wonder how badly mangled the fourth story will be when they try to make it into a movie. I can’t see them doing it justice this side of three and a half hours and that’s probably slicing it thin.
Still, my more pressing concern is the fact that book 5 isn’t due until next year at the earliest according to word from Rowling’s publisher. Things are going to be a bit testy around here when it finally does come out what with three fans of the series in our home. Oh well, the family that fights over books together spends quality time in the ER together.

Yeah, it’s June 2003 now. She still hasn’t finished even writing the book. I guess she’s finally coming out of that fit of writer’s block that comes when you have book and movie checks that deperately need spending.
