It seems Patrick Stewart is a long-time fan of Doctor Who and expressed his desire to be in an episode in a recent interview:

“I have been (a fan) actually yes, and deeply dismayed that I was never asked to be in it! I think it’s a terrific series,” Stewart said.

Stewart is currently set to appear opposite current Doctor David Tennant in Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company next year; Tennant will play the title role and Stewart will play Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius.

We’ve already had Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a second season episode so why not one of the captains of the Enterprise? I think he’d make an excellent villain.

I saw Patrick Stewart as Prospero in ‘The Tempest’ at the RSC theatre at Stratford Upon Avon last year while on my belated honeymoon in the Cotswold.  We had gone into Stratford, as last time we were there we were with the kids.  On the off chance we went to the Box Office, and got 2 tickets in the ‘Gods’ for a tenner each.

It’s one of Will’s ropier plays, but Stewart was fantastic.  I’d love to be able to see him play opposite Tennant in Hamlet (arguably the finest piece of English Literature), who is also a really good actor- if you’ve only seen him as the Dr you may not appriciate it.  His ‘cad and Bounder’ character in Bright Young Things is brilliant.  It’s always odd to see him out of character, because his English accent is so natural, and the first time you hear his natural Scots is a surprise.  He also comes across as a really nice guy.

Jean Luc is my favourite ST captain, he always comes across as a proper officer- better than Pretty Boy Riker.

Spoiler Warning because I don’t know how much of series 3 has aired in the states:

Well, if one of Doctor Who’s iconic villains can be played by an actor who has appeared as Hamlet (in a BBC production, which also featured Lalla Ward as Ophelia) and as Claudius (in Kenneth Branagh uncut movie version), I think their is plenty of room on the show for a British icon who is a member of the Royal Shakespeare company and a former Starfleet Captain.

Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) was also in one episode (The Long Game). It would be nice to see Patrick Stewart in an episode. The only question would be, villain or hero?

How about a tie in. Kind of corny and overdone, but here’s one:

You know the episode where Data loses his head and they all go back to early earth? Use that episode running in the background, and have The Doctor assisting Picard without the knowledge of the rest of the crew.

Same story, different camera angles and point of view, with Picard as the common connector.

I’m trying to think of who he could play. Well let’s see, we’ve had the Autons, Daleks, Cybermen, and The Master.

What about Davros? We’ve never seen how he looked before he got all affected during the Kaled-Thal war.

Of course, they could create a new villain character for him. Maybe someone Spider-Jerusalem-esque, so we can see him act like a raving lunatic misanthrope.

What about he has super powers, a bit like in X Men.  He sees a pretty woman, and just by thinking about it, all her clothes fall off.  She grabs what she can, but by that time he’s seen EVERYTHING.

Actually I had a though while giving blood- PS as the Dr. A return to terse gruff Dr’s. Nice contrast to Tennant.
